Introduction to Fu Ling
Introduction
Fu Ling, also known as Bai Fu Ling (White Poria), is the dried sclerotium of the fungus Poria cocos, which is produced in regions such as Yunnan, Anhui, and Hubei in China. It typically grows under large pine trees and is harvested from July to September. The sclerotium is shaped like a sweet potato, round, with a light brown or dark brown outer skin and pink or white interior.
Fu Ling has a sweet, bland taste, is neutral and non-toxic, and enters the Heart, Spleen, Lung, and Kidney meridians. It has the effects of promoting urination and leaching out dampness, benefiting the Spleen and Stomach, nourishing the Kidney, calming the mind, and generating fluids.
