Commonly used blood-nourishing foods include longan flesh, jujubes, and peanuts. To promote iron absorption, consume some acidic foods, such as tomatoes, sour jujubes, pickled cucumbers, and sauerkraut. Vitamin C can help with iron absorption and the production of hemoglobin, so ensure adequate intake of vitamin C.
3. Foods to Avoid for Anemia:
Those with anemia should avoid drinking tea, as excessive tea consumption can worsen anemia symptoms. The iron in food enters the digestive tract in the form of ferric hydroxide. Under the action of gastric juice, ferric iron is converted to ferrous iron for absorption. However, tannins in tea can form insoluble tannic acid iron, hindering iron absorption. Additionally, milk and some antacids can obstruct iron absorption, so it is best to avoid consuming them with iron-rich foods.
