Weekly Technique: Balancing Cupping Therapy

Balancing cupping therapy is based on traditional cupping techniques, incorporating methods such as flash cupping, rubbing cupping, sliding cupping, shaking cupping, and retained cupping. This approach activates a large number of “dormant” immune cells hidden beneath the skin of the back, regulates the qi (气) of the organs, and transmits signals to the brain through the meridians, achieving a non-pharmaceutical natural balance therapy for self-repair, self-regulation, and self-improvement.

Indications

Weekly Technique: Balancing Cupping Therapy

1. Chronic conditions such as lumbar muscle strain and lumbar disc herniation can benefit from this method to invigorate blood circulation and promote recovery. Individuals with excessive dampness may often feel heavy limbs, fatigue, or experience shortness of breath upon exertion; balancing cupping can help regulate the body’s qi and facilitate the expulsion of dampness.

2. It can dispel cold pathogens, providing therapeutic effects for symptoms caused by wind-cold colds, such as cough, runny nose, and fever.

3. It can alleviate fatigue, promote relaxation, and performing the treatment before bedtime can help relax muscles and improve sleep.

Treatment Cycle

It is recommended to perform the treatment once every other day or twice a week, with a total of 7-10 sessions constituting one treatment course.

Precautions

1. After cupping, the local skin may show redness or purplish discoloration (bruising), which may cause slight pain; this is normal and will subside on its own.

2. After cupping, it is advisable to drink a cup of warm water.

3. In summer, avoid direct exposure of the cupped area to fans or air conditioning.

4. Keep warm; it is not advisable to bathe for 4-6 hours after cupping.
