Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), with a sweet flavor and neutral nature, is associated with the Spleen (Pi), Stomach (Wei), and Large Intestine (Da Chang) meridians. Ancient texts record its effects ofmoistening dryness, lubricating the intestines, promoting urination, and invigorating blood circulation.
1. Lubricating the intestines and relieving constipation: Fire Hemp Seed is rich in oils, which can lubricate the intestines and promote bowel movements, commonly used to relieve constipation, especially suitable for the elderly and those with weak constitutions.
2. Nourishing Yin and replenishing deficiency: Fire Hemp Seed has a nourishing Yin effect, suitable for those with Yin deficiency, helping to improve symptoms such as dry mouth and dry skin.
3. Lowering blood lipids: The unsaturated fatty acids in Fire Hemp Seed help lower blood lipids and prevent cardiovascular diseases.
4. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic: Fire Hemp Seed has certain anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, which can be used to relieve mild pain and inflammation.
5. Antioxidant: Fire Hemp Seed contains antioxidant components that help delay aging and enhance immunity.
6. Improving sleep: Certain components in Fire Hemp Seed help to calm the mind and improve sleep quality.

Formulations using Fire Hemp Seed:
1. For lubricating the intestines and relieving constipation: Combine 10g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and Huai Niu Xi, 12g each of Rou Cong Rong and Gua Lou Ren, 8g of Chao Zhi Qiao, 3g of Sheng Ma, and 5g of Yu Li Ren. Boil in water for 40 minutes and drink warm.
2. For habitual constipation and constipation due to fluid deficiency in the elderly: Combine 10g each of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and Zi Su Zi with 50g of rice. Grind the seeds into a fine powder, mix with warm water, stir vigorously, let it sit until the coarse particles settle, then filter out the upper liquid to cook rice porridge.
3. For gastrointestinal dryness and constipation with frequent urination: Combine 500g each of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and Da Huang, and 250g each of Shao Yao, Zhi Shi, Hou Po, and Xing Ren. Grind into a fine powder, mix with honey to form pills the size of Wutong seeds, taking 10 pills each time, three times a day with warm water.
4. For deficiency and heat in the lower jiao, joint pain, muscle stiffness, difficulty urinating, and infrequent bowel movements: Use 15g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), grind into a fine powder, boil in water, strain, and take warm.
5. For gastrointestinal dryness and constipation with bloating and pain: Combine 300g each of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and cooked Da Huang, and 150g each of Hou Po, Zhi Shi, Shao Yao, and Chao Xing Ren, grind into powder, mix with honey to form pills. Take 6g each time, 1-2 times a day.
6. For constipation due to blood deficiency and fluid loss in postpartum women: Use 12g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), 30g of Rou Cong Rong, 9g each of Dang Gui and Zi Su Zi, boiled in water.
7. For spleen deficiency and intestinal dryness leading to constipation: Use 15g each of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and Sheng Shou Wu, boiled in water.
8. For constipation after febrile diseases: Use 15g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), 10g each of Xing Ren and Bai Zi Ren, and 6g of Zhi Qiao, boiled in water.
9. For constipation due to blood deficiency in postpartum women: Use 15g each of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and Sheng Di Huang, 10g each of Dang Gui and Bai Zi Ren, boiled in water.
10. For constipation in the elderly or postpartum women: Use 15g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), 10g each of Dang Gui, Bai Shao, Sheng Di Huang, and Zhi Qiao, boiled in water.
11. For severe constipation: Combine 30g each of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), Da Huang, Zhi Shi, and Bai Shao, and 15g each of Hou Po and Xing Ren, grind into fine powder, mix with honey to form pills weighing 10g each, taking 1-2 times a day, 1 pill each time with warm water.
12. For thirst and red, painful urination: Use 200g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), add 600ml of water, extract the juice to drink, once daily.
13. For delayed menstruation: Use 200g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and 30g of Tao Ren. Grind into powder, soak in 100ml of warm wine for 12 hours, divide into 2-3 doses, once daily.
14. For neurodermatitis and chronic eczema: The distilled oil of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) has good efficacy in treating neurodermatitis and chronic eczema.
15. For post-operative constipation: Use 18g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), 19g each of Xing Ren and Zhi Shi, mix with honey to form pills for internal use.
16. For facial paralysis: Use 30g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), 12g of Xue Jie, and 2g of She Xiang, boiled in water.
17. For constipation: Use 10-20g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren) and 10-20g of Zhi Shi, adjust according to symptoms, boiled in water.
18. For excessive thirst, eating several dou daily, and painful urination: Use 500g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), 3L of water, boil three to four times, and drink the juice frequently.
19. For acne: Combine 15g of Huang Qi, 12g of Dang Gui, 12g of Dan Shen, 9g of Chi Shao, 9g of Dan Pi, 12g each of Sheng and Shu Di Huang, 12g of Gou Qi Zi, 9g of Huang Qin, 12g of Hang Bai Ju, 3g of Sheng Gan Cao, 12g of Zhi Mu, and 9g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren).
Efficacy: Nourishes both Qi and blood, beautifies the skin. Helps detoxify and prevent acne recurrence.
20. For a laxative drink: Combine 30g of He Shou Wu, 15g of Rou Cong Rong, 30g of Yu Zhu, 30g of Huang Qi, 10g of Dang Gui, 30g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), 10g of Jiu Jun (added later), and 10g of Zhi Qiao. Boil in water, once daily, taken in the morning and evening.
21. For a laxative pill: Combine 106g of Lai Fu Zi, 100g of Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), and 20g of Da Huang, mix and grind into powder, then mix with an appropriate amount of cooked honey to form pills weighing 3g each, taking 1 pill each time, twice daily, for a 10-day course.
22. For a Qi-nourishing and laxative soup: Combine 30g of Huang Qi, 10g of Dang Gui, 15g each of Sheng Di and Fire Hemp Seed (Huo Ma Ren), and 10g each of Zhi Shi and Hou Po; for severe Qi deficiency, add 15g of Bai Zhu and 20g of Huang Jing; for severe Yin deficiency, add 10g each of Mai Dong and Xuan Shen; for severe kidney deficiency, add 15g of Rou Cong Rong and 10g of He Shou Wu; for heat constipation, add 10g of Da Huang (to be added later). Once daily, boil twice, taken in the morning and evening, for a 7-day course.
Those with loose stools, pregnant women, and those with spleen and stomach deficiency-cold, impotence, nocturnal emissions, leukorrhea, and children should avoid use. The daily dosage is 8-12g, crushed and boiled in water, and should not exceed the recommended amount. This product is incompatible with Mu Li, Bai Wei, and should not be used together with Fu Ling.
