Liver Qi stagnation refers to the condition where the liver fails to regulate and the Qi mechanism becomes obstructed. Most patients experience symptoms such as emotional depression, chest and rib distension, or abdominal bloating and pain. Typically, the occurrence of liver Qi stagnation leads to significant physical discomfort and greatly affects the normal expression of emotions. If not effectively improved over a long period, it can cause liver damage and also lead to significant psychological harm. Therefore, can liver Qi stagnation heal itself without any treatment?

Liver Qi stagnation generally has a low chance of self-healing, so when liver Qi stagnation is detected, it is essential to use methods such as acupoint massage and herbal medicine. Only through internal intervention can the condition of liver Qi stagnation be treated and improved. How can liver Qi stagnation be improved?

② Push the Feet, Open the Liver Meridian

In TCM, the liver is responsible for regulation. When liver Qi flows freely, all meridians are unobstructed. However, liver Qi is easily affected by emotions; unhappiness can easily lead to liver Qi stagnation, and once liver Qi is blocked, it can lead to further unhappiness. Opening the liver meridian focuses on the action of pushing.

★ Foot Push: Start with the left foot, then the right foot. Push from the top of the foot along the seams towards the toes with some force until a feeling of soreness is achieved, doing fifty repetitions for each foot.

★ Push the Liver Meridian: While seated, bend the left leg, keeping the knee flat. Place your palms together and press on the inner thigh near the root of the left thigh, applying some force to push forward to the knee. Do fifty repetitions for each side, feeling pain is ideal (if there is no pain, TCM theory states ‘where there is flow, there is no pain’, indicating the liver meridian is unobstructed). You can push over clothing or apply some moisturizing oil directly on the skin for better results.

Sleep generally refers to human sleep, an essential physiological phenomenon. Sleep occupies nearly one-third of a person’s life, and its quality is closely related to human health. This shows how important sleep is for everyone. In a sense, the quality of sleep determines the quality of life. But why do people need sleep? This question has long been a topic of thorough investigation by scientists. Recently, according to a report by the British magazine New Scientist, scientists have proposed several theories regarding the reasons for sleep, ranging from simple theories of energy conservation to complex theories involving memory processing, providing a comprehensive exploration of human sleep.
