Head Distension, Bitter Mouth, Dizziness: Scrape Here

Author: Fu Guangjie
This spring, I often experienced head distension. Later, I purchased a horn Gua Sha board and followed the methods introduced in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to scrape my head for 10 minutes daily. I felt much clearer in my mind. The human head has multiple meridians passing through it, with the midline being the Du Mai (Governing Vessel), followed by the Bladder Meridian (Pangguang Jing), Gallbladder Meridian (Dan Jing), and Sanjiao Meridian (San Jiao Jing).

Spring is a season of abundant liver fire. According to TCM theory of the liver and gallbladder being interconnected, scraping the Gallbladder Meridian (Dan Jing) daily can also help treat symptoms such as bitter mouth, dizziness, and headaches.
For patients with hypertension, while scraping the head, it is advisable to also tap along the sides of the body where the Gallbladder Meridian (Dan Jing) runs. Additionally, it is important to avoid spicy and fried foods, and to limit the consumption of white liquor. This helps prevent dizziness and worsening of the condition.
