Constitution Definition:A constitution characterized by poor blood circulation, primarily indicated by a dull complexion and a purplish tongue, reflecting blood stasis.
Causes of Constitution:Congenital endowment, acquired damage, emotional stagnation, and chronic illness affecting the meridians.
Physical Characteristics:Can be either overweight or underweight.
Psychological Characteristics:Prone to irritability and forgetfulness.
Adaptability:Not tolerant to cold pathogens.
Tongue and Pulse Characteristics:Tongue color is dark, with local stasis spots; sublingual veins are purplish or thickened. Pulse is choppy.
Common Manifestations (Primary Items):Typically presents with a dull complexion, dark skin or pigmentation, easy bruising, prone to pain, and dark or purplish lips. (Secondary Items):Dark circles under the eyes, nasal congestion, hair loss, dry skin or brittle nails; women often experience dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, or dark purple menstrual blood with clots, or metrorrhagia.
Tendency to Illness:Prone to bleeding, masses, stroke, chest obstruction, and pain syndromes.
Constitution Analysis:Poor blood circulation leads to insufficient nourishment of the body, resulting in hair loss, dry skin, or brittle nails; obstruction leads to pain, with women often experiencing dysmenorrhea; blood stasis causes the blood to turn purple or black, leading to a dull complexion, dark skin, dark or purplish lips, dark circles under the eyes, and nasal congestion; stasis in the vessels leads to skin pigmentation and easy bruising, amenorrhea in women, a dark tongue or stasis spots, purplish or thickened sublingual veins, and a choppy or intermittent pulse. Accumulated blood that does not disperse can lead to dark purple menstrual blood with clots; blood that flows outside the vessels can lead to metrorrhagia; internal blood stasis can lead to masses, chest obstruction, and pain syndromes; cold nature causes blood vessels to constrict, making one intolerant to cold pathogens.
