Constitutional Characteristics

The body is well-proportioned and robust, with a gentle and cheerful personality. The complexion and skin are moist, hair is thick and shiny, eyes are bright, the nose is moist and clear, the sense of smell is acute, lips are rosy, fatigue is rare, energy is abundant, tolerant to cold and heat, sleep is good, appetite is strong, bowel movements are normal, tongue is pale red, coating is thin and white, and pulse is harmonious and strong. Generally, this constitution is less prone to illness and has a strong adaptability to both natural and social environments.

Dietary Health Principles

Harmonize the five flavors and balance the diet. Adapt to the four seasons and conduct “seasonal adjustments” accordingly.

Commonly Used Dietary Health Recipes

Yam and Poria Steamed Buns

【Ingredients】 100g Yam, 100g Poria, 1000g Flour, 150g White Sugar, Lard, Green and Red Threads as needed, the above is for 10 servings.

【Method】 Grind the Yam and Poria into powder, soak in water to form a paste, steam for 30 minutes, then mix with 200g flour, white sugar, lard, and green and red threads to make the filling. Take another 800g flour, add yeast, knead well, let it rise for 2-3 hours until the dough is puffed, then add baking soda, knead well, wrap the filling, and steam until cooked.

【Usage】 Regularly consume as a staple food, suitable for all seasons.

【Effect】 Benefits the spleen and stomach, tonifies Qi and Yin, consolidates essence and Qi, beneficial for regular consumption.

Benefit Spleen Cake

【Ingredients】 12g Bai Zhu (Atractylodes), 6g Gan Jiang (Dried Ginger), 50g Red Date Paste, 10g Ji Nei Jin (Chicken Inner Gold), 200g Flour.

【Method】 Place Bai Zhu and Gan Jiang in a cloth bag, grind Ji Nei Jin into powder, remove the pits from the dates. Boil the bag and date flesh in water for 1 hour. Remove the bag and simmer for another 30 minutes, mash the date flesh, let cool, then mix in Ji Nei Jin powder and flour, knead into a dough and roll into thin cakes, cook on a low fire until done.

【Usage】 Best consumed on an empty stomach, chew thoroughly. Suitable for all seasons.

【Effect】 Strengthens the spleen, stimulates appetite, aids digestion, and stops diarrhea; can be consumed freely.

Yam and Almond Milk Pudding

【Ingredients】 25g Yam, 20g Almond, 100g Milk.

【Method】 Place all ingredients in a container and steam for 3 hours.

【Usage】 Consume as a soup.

【Effect】 Nourishes the five organs, strengthens the spleen and kidneys, regulates Qi, and is rich in high-quality protein; beneficial for regular consumption.

Essence Nourishing Pudding

【Ingredients】 60g Beef Bone Marrow, 60g Almond, 60g Walnut, 150g Yam Slices, 250g Cooked Honey, 1000g Water.

【Method】 Boil water, add beef bone marrow, almond, walnut, and yam slices, simmer for 1 hour, add honey, boil on high heat to reduce the liquid until thick.

【Usage】 Best taken on an empty stomach.

【Effect】 Nourishes the organs, enhances the body’s righteous Qi, and boosts immunity.

Onion Stir-fried Beef

【Ingredients】 250g Lean Beef, 100g Onion, Starch, Cooking Wine, Salt, and MSG as needed.

【Method】 Clean and slice the beef, mix with starch. Clean and slice the onion. Heat oil in a pan, add beef and onion, stir-fry with cooking wine, then add salt and MSG until cooked.

【Usage】 Regularly consume.

【Effect】 Benefits Qi and blood, strengthens muscles and bones, and enhances physical health.

Five Flavor Nourishing Chicken

【Ingredients】 50g Huang Jing (Polygonatum), 50g Goji Berries, 50g Nu Zhen Zi (Ligustrum), 50g He Shou Wu (Fo-Ti), 30g Eclipta, 1 Hen (about 1500g), Ginger, Scallion, Cooking Wine, Salt, and MSG as needed.

【Method】 Wash and chop the five herbs, place in a cloth bag. Blanch the chicken in boiling water to remove blood, then rinse. In a pot, add 3000g water and the herb bag, simmer for 1 hour; add the chicken and boil on high heat, then simmer for 3 hours (each part should be cooked in the herbal broth for over 1 hour). Once the chicken is tender, remove the herb bag, add scallion, ginger, cooking wine, salt, and MSG, boil on high heat.

【Usage】 Best consumed in small amounts, not in excess; beneficial for regular consumption.

【Effect】 Nourishes Yin and blood, tonifies liver and kidneys, benefits essence and blood. Commonly used for premature graying of hair, dizziness, and visual disturbances due to deficiency of liver and kidney essence and blood. Those with digestive issues should consume with caution, and avoid eating with pig blood, radish, and large amounts of scallion and garlic.

Huang Jing Steamed Chicken

【Ingredients】 10-15g Huang Jing, 150g Hen Meat, Scallion, Ginger, Cooking Wine, Salt, Pepper, Starch as needed.

【Method】 Cut chicken into small pieces, blanch in boiling water to clean, wash Huang Jing, and place with seasonings in a steamer, steam on high heat for 2 hours. Remove scallion and ginger, pour the broth into a frying pan, boil on high heat to reduce the liquid, and thicken with starch.

【Usage】 Serve as a side dish to adjust the diet. Avoid during the onset of a cold.

【Effect】 Nourishes Yin, benefits Qi, nourishes blood and essence; suitable for young adults to prevent kidney deficiency. Also a good tonic for post-illness recovery, those with deficiency constitution, and the elderly.

Chen Pi Duck

【Ingredients】 1 Duck, 10g Chen Pi (Dried Tangerine Peel), 30g Yam, Pepper, Cooking Wine, Salt, Scallion, Ginger, MSG as needed.

【Method】 Clean the duck, remove feathers and entrails, and boil until cooked. In the duck broth, add cooking wine, salt, soy sauce, scallion, ginger, and pepper, mix well. Add the duck back into the broth, along with shredded Chen Pi and yam slices, and simmer for another 15 minutes.

【Usage】 Consume both soup and meat.

【Effect】 Strengthens the spleen, stimulates appetite, and replenishes deficiency; suitable for those with a harmonious constitution as a regular dietary adjustment.

Eight Treasure Lotus Seed

【Ingredients】 50g Cooked Lotus Seed, 25g Ginkgo, 25g Cooked Chestnut, 25g Candied Orange Peel, 25g Apple, 25g Banana, 25g Orange Segments, 25g Honey Dates, White Sugar, and Starch as needed.

【Method】 Cut Ginkgo, Chestnut, Banana, Apple, Honey Dates, Orange Segments, and Candied Orange Peel into pieces the size of lotus seeds. In a pot, add water, lotus seeds, Ginkgo, Candied Orange Peel, Honey Dates, and white sugar, boil, then thicken with starch, and finally add Chestnut, Apple, and Banana, mixing well.

【Usage】 Serve as a side dish or dessert after meals.

【Effect】 Tonifies the five organs and strengthens the body.
