Experiencing Tinnitus? Commonly Used Guiding Techniques to Consider

Guiding is a method of health preservation. Common guiding techniques for tinnitus include abdominal breathing, pinching the nose and blowing, pressing the ear rim, drumming the sky, and head twisting, all aimed at promoting the smooth flow of qi and blood in the ear, thereby achieving the purpose of unblocking the ear orifices.

1. Abdominal Breathing: Through gentle, soft, and rhythmic abdominal breathing exercises, one can relax the entire body, focus the mind, and alleviate tension and anxiety.

2. Pinching the Nose and Blowing: Use the thumb and index finger to pinch the sides of the nose, inhale through the mouth, then close the mouth and forcefully exhale through the nose, allowing the air to enter the middle ear via the Eustachian tube. At this moment, one may feel the eardrum suddenly bulging outward with a loud sound. This method can improve Eustachian tube function and relieve the sensation of ear blockage.

3. Pressing the Ear Rim: Use both hands to press and rub the ear rim, alternating up and down for 15 minutes each time, 1-2 times a day. This method can improve the circulation of qi and blood around the ear.

4. Drumming the Sky: Adjust your breathing, place both palms tightly against the openings of the external ear canals to temporarily seal them, with fingers resting on the back of the head, the index finger stacked on the middle finger. Slide the index finger down from the middle finger and gently tap the back of the head. Strike 24 times with each hand, then strike both hands together 48 times, three times a day.

5. Head Twisting: Rotate the head up, down, left, and right to relieve stiffness and soreness in the neck muscles.

The guiding movements should be slow and gentle. There is no need to rigidly memorize the postures and counts of the guiding movements; they should be natural and progressive. The duration of each guiding session should be based on individual circumstances, aiming for slight sweating without excessive perspiration.
