Reflections on the Practice of Daoyin

Since sharing the practice of Daoyin (Guiding and Pulling) until today, it has been almost a year.

Seeing many classmates share from the heart makes me feel a mix of emotions, and I am grateful that I have shared such a wonderful method; since then, friends who have the opportunity to practice Daoyin have been getting healthier day by day.

Reflections on the Practice of Daoyin

Hello, Teacher Xiao Yi, I am grateful to have met you.

As the teacher said, Daoyin has changed the trajectory of my life.

Today, while practicing Daoyin, I slowly experienced the changes in my body, all the while holding a feeling of gratitude towards the teacher.

I have something I must express.

Here are my gains, insights, and lessons from this period.

I would like to report to you.

I have been weak and sickly since childhood, a “medicine jar” and “sickly person” were my nicknames.

1. I have had a poor stomach since childhood and did not like to pass gas; after practicing Daoyin, my gas is normal.

2. My chronic pharyngitis did not flare up last winter. I caught a cold once and recovered the next day.

In the past two years, whenever I caught a cold, I would cough for more than three months; then pharyngitis would flare up.

3. My sleep has started to improve, especially after practicing the second stage; now my sleep is incredibly good.

I have had poor sleep since childhood, having experienced more than a month without sleep.

4. About a month before practicing the second stage, there were a few days when I napped a bit longer.

Then, as the elders say, I fell asleep and could not open my eyes or get up.

It was hard to wake up, and I felt terrible, lethargic, and weak.

Now, not only is my napping particularly good, but I also feel more energetic.

5. Recently, I discovered that the calluses on the soles of my feet, which I have had for many years, are gone, a pleasant surprise.

6. My scoliosis has shown significant improvement.

7. I have had the problem of early morning diarrhea since childhood; no matter how early I get up, the first thing I do is rush to the bathroom.

Now: about ten days ago, after getting up, I practice Daoyin and do not rush to the bathroom anymore.

I can wait at least two to three hours before going.

This is a huge gain.

8. The menopausal symptoms I have had for over ten years are quietly leaving me.

Now, let me share my lessons.

1. I have cervical spine issues; after the teacher taught me the bone contraction method, I pulled a bit too hard and injured my cervical spine. It is already healed.

2. I have lumbar issues. When practicing the fast-paced Daoyin, I pulled back a bit too much and injured my lower back. It is also healed now.

3. My knees sometimes hurt in autumn and winter; while doing knee care, I swayed a bit too long and with too much amplitude, causing knee pain, but it is almost healed now.

After experiencing all this, I have gained profound insights. I was too greedy and had too strong a purpose.

It is like taking medicine for a disease. I was too harsh on myself.

This is the punishment for my greed.

In the future, when practicing Daoyin, I will not hold any purpose.

I will treat my body with kindness and love to make up for the neglect I have shown it over the years.

No matter how my body changes in the future, I will accept it calmly.

At this moment, any words are pale and powerless, insufficient to express my gratitude to the teacher.

One word (practice) is enough.
