“Stagnation leads to blockage, blockage leads to pain.” The meridians in TCM are channels that circulate Qi and blood, connecting the organs and the body surface as well as all parts of the body.
Some Pain is a Warning from the Organs
When a certain part of the body suddenly hurts, we only know that there is a problem, but we do not have a clear concept of where the problem lies. In fact, some pain is related to the organs, so let’s understand our body and find out the real cause of the pain!
Heart: People with heart problems may suddenly experience chest pain, which can radiate to the left arm, shoulder blade, and neck.
Kidney: People often confuse back pain with kidney problems. When the kidneys are problematic, there is a deep pain under the ribs that can extend to the legs. If it is back pain, it will only feel like muscle pain, and the pain is not as deep.
Small Intestine: If there is a problem with the small intestine, there will be pain around the navel. If this area suddenly hurts when bending over or walking, you must see a doctor.
Large Intestine: Pain in the lower right abdomen may indicate a large intestine issue, which can also lead to constipation.
Lungs: The lungs do not have nerve endings, so pain is not felt, but when there is a problem, there may be a dull pain in the chest, along with coughing and difficulty breathing.
Appendix: Appendicitis can cause severe pain in the lower right abdomen, which may also radiate to the stomach and right leg. If this area hurts and is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, fever, constipation, or diarrhea, seek medical attention promptly.
Stomach: Stomach issues can cause pain in the middle abdomen, and the same area in the back may also hurt. Pain caused by the stomach and esophagus is often confused with heart pain, so it is best to see a doctor.
Gallbladder and Liver: Issues with these organs can lead to pain in the upper right abdomen, and the same area in the back may also hurt. Liver problems can also cause jaundice and a sour taste in the mouth.
Pancreas: Pain in the middle upper abdomen may indicate a pancreatic issue, which can also cause stomach pain. If the pain worsens after eating or lying down, it may indicate pancreatic disease that requires prompt medical attention.
These small pieces of knowledge can only help us make preliminary judgments about our health conditions and should not be taken as absolute standards. If you feel unwell, you should still see a doctor. Everyone should have regular health check-ups; there is nothing more important than health!
