Kidney deficiency? In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is classified into four types. Today, let’s discuss what to eat and how to nourish Kidney Yang deficiency.Kidney Yang deficiency is primarily characterized by: fear of cold, cold limbs, clear and prolonged urination, pale complexion, decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, pale tongue with white coating, and a deep and slow pulse. You must accurately determine which type of kidney deficiency you belong to in order to treat it appropriately.
Yang Qi plays a crucial role in maintaining the normal functioning of the body. If the body loses Yang Qi, it loses the vitality of metabolism, cannot provide energy and warmth, struggles to resist adverse climatic conditions, has weakened immune function, and is prone to colds or other diseases that are difficult to recover from.“Kidney Yang is the root, and Spleen Yang is the continuation.” Those with Yang deficiency should eat more warming and Yang-nourishing foods, focusing on warming and tonifying the Yang Qi of the Spleen and Kidney. It is advisable to avoid raw, cold, and greasy foods, and not to overconsume cold items even in the height of summer.
In our daily lives, foods that can help tonify Yang include lamb, pig stomach, chicken, hairtail fish, dog meat, sparrow meat, venison, yellow eel, shrimp (lobster, prawn, river shrimp, etc.), sword bean, walnut, chestnut, leek, and fennel. According to the principle of “nourishing Yang in spring and summer,” during the hot summer days, one can consume lamb soup once during each of the three hottest periods to enhance the Yang of the body.
Avoid excessive consumption of cold and cooling foods, such as pears, watermelons, and persimmons; also limit overly greasy foods.
Green tea, which is cooling, should also be consumed in moderation.
