Spring is a new starting point for the year, and when it comes to choosing health preservation methods, nourishing medicinal cuisine is undoubtedly the first choice.
Speaking of medicinal cuisine, it is familiar to everyone. Simply put, it is a delicious food made by pairing medicinal herbs with ingredients. There is a saying in TCM, “Food and medicine share the same source,” which means that medicine can be treated as food, and food can be endowed with medicinal properties. The two complement each other, enhancing their respective effects. Therefore, medicinal cuisine has now developed into a popular daily health preservation method.
The Traditional Chinese Medicine Department of the Municipal Government’s San Dormitory Clinic recommends several classic spring nourishing medicinal dishes.

Mr. Pan, a resident of Lijing Garden Community, has experienced palpitations, shortness of breath, fatigue, and poor appetite after a COVID-19 infection. After consuming Shen Ling Jian Pi Bu Yi Tang for two weeks, his symptoms significantly improved.
The ancient medicine king Sun Simiao emphasized in the “Qian Jin Fang” that food therapy should be used to treat diseases first, followed by medicinal therapy. When the body is nourished, diseases will be treated. This shows that consuming medicinal cuisine has become a common method of health preservation in TCM. However, medicinal cuisine recipes vary from person to person, so it is recommended that everyone consult the doctors of the San Dormitory Clinic before consuming medicinal cuisine, to undergo pulse diagnosis and TCM constitution identification, in order to better understand their physical condition and formulate a suitable medicinal cuisine recipe.
