Vascular Stenosis: No Need for Stents, A Formula to Promote Blood Circulation and Clear Blockages!

Vascular stenosis is a serious condition, and there is no need for stents; a formula can promote blood circulation and clear blockages throughout the body!

Vascular Stenosis: No Need for Stents, A Formula to Promote Blood Circulation and Clear Blockages!

Friends in middle and old age know how terrifying vascular stenosis can be. When the blood vessels are narrowed by50%, the body may start to experience discomfort, such asblackouts, dizziness, slurred speech, and memory decline; when the stenosis exceeds 75%, the situation becomes critical, with a risk ofmyocardial infarction or cerebral infarction.

So, is there any way to solve this problem?

Generally, when vascular stenosis exceeds75%, Western medicine will recommend stenting. However, we know that stents only provide temporary relief and do not address the underlying issue.

The principle is quite simple: it merely expands the blocked blood vessels to allow blood flow, but it does not resolve the essence of the blockage.

Many patients may experience re-narrowing of the blood vessels within six months after the procedure, and stents are placed wherever there is a blockage. This not only incurs significant costs for patients but also, over time, the stents will eventually become ineffective.

Vascular Stenosis: No Need for Stents, A Formula to Promote Blood Circulation and Clear Blockages!

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) believes that our body is a whole, and restoring the smooth flow ofqi and blood is essential to fundamentally solve the problem. In fact, vascular stenosis corresponds to what TCM refers to as“xue yu” (blood stasis) and “mai bi” (meridian obstruction). Blood stasis blocks the blood vessels, preventing the smooth flow of qi and blood.

Today, I would like to introduce a TCM formula——Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction, created by the famous Qing Dynasty physician Wang Qingren, which can invigorate blood circulation, clear blockages, and improve vascular stenosis.

Its main ingredients includeDang Gui (Angelica Sinensis), Tao Ren (Peach Kernel), Hong Hua (Safflower), Sheng Di Huang (Rehmannia Root), Chi Shao (Red Peony Root), Chuan Xiong (Ligusticum Chuanxiong), Zhi Qiao (Bitter Orange), Chai Hu (Bupleurum), Gan Cao (Licorice), Chuan Niu Xi (Cyathula), and Jie Geng (Platycodon).

Tao Ren and Hong Hua are the “masters” of invigorating blood circulation and resolving blood stasis, specifically targeting the stasis in the blood vessels and clearing the blockages in the body, allowing blood to flow freely again.

Dang Gui is primarily used to nourish blood, helping to clear blood stasis while replenishing the body’s blood, improving blood circulation, and regulating the balance of qi and blood.

Chuan Xiong promotes qi and invigorates blood, Sheng Di Huang nourishes yin and replenishes blood, Chi Shao disperses stasis and alleviates pain, Chuan Niu Xi guides blood downward, Chai Hu soothes the liver and relieves depression, Zhi Qiao and Jie Geng work together to regulate qi, ensuring smooth flow of qi and blood.

Gan Cao harmonizes the other herbs, enhancing their effectiveness.

How to use it specifically? Let me share a case:

Last year, I had a patient,65 years old, who experienced severe chest tightness and pain for a period. Upon examination at the hospital, it was found that there was plaque formation in the mid-segment of the left anterior descending artery, with a narrowing of the lumen reaching 75%. The patient did not want a stent and sought TCM treatment.

After a comprehensive diagnosis, I identified the pattern asqi stagnation and blood stasis, and treated it withinvigorating blood circulation, resolving blood stasis, and alleviating pain.

Therefore, I adjusted the formula based on Xuefu Zhuyu Decoction and prescribed: Tao Ren, Hong Hua, Dang Gui, Sheng Di Huang, Chuan Xiong, Chi Shao, Niu Xi, Jie Geng, Chai Hu, Zhi Qiao, and Gan Cao.

What were the results?

The patient reported improvement in chest tightness and pain after two weeks; based on the patient’s condition, I added Dan Shen (Salvia Miltiorrhiza) to enhance the blood-invigorating effect, and Yan Hu Suo (Corydalis) to alleviate pain, and Gua Lou (Trichosanthes) to relieve chest tightness. After a month, the patient’s mental state significantly improved, with a gradual return of color to the face and a reduction in dark purple lips; after six months, all symptoms had disappeared, and daily life was unaffected. A follow-up coronary angiography showed that the degree of stenosis in the left anterior descending artery had reduced to about 40%.

This formula is one I frequently use in clinical practice; it is both affordable and effective. I have not provided specific dosages here because TCM requires individualized treatment based on diagnosis, tailoring the formula to each patient to effectively treat their condition.
