1. Nourishing Yin and Assisting Yang
Huang Bai can drain kidney fire; Zhi Mu enters the kidney meridian and can nourish kidney Yin; while Rou Gui is spicy, sweet, and very warming, which can tonify fire, assist Yang, and benefit Yang while dispelling Yin. Therefore, the combination of Huang Bai, Zhi Mu, and Rou Gui can nourish Yin and assist Yang, and is applicable for conditions such as kidney Yang deficiency, decline of Ming Men fire, and cold pain in the lower back and knees.
2. Clearing Heat and Draining Fire
Huang Bai is bitter, cold, and sinks, excelling at clearing and draining damp-heat from the lower jiao; Zhi Mu has a bitter and sweet taste, is cold in nature, and moistening in quality. The bitter and cold properties can clear heat and drain fire, while the sweet and cold properties can generate fluids and moisten dryness. Therefore, the combination of Huang Bai, Zhi Mu, and Rou Gui can clear heat and drain fire, and is suitable for conditions such as externally contracted febrile diseases and high fever with thirst.

Not Suitable for Concurrent Consumption
1. Chi Shi Zhi (Halloysite)
Chi Shi Zhi and Rou Gui are contraindicated in combination; using both together will reduce their efficacy, so the combination of Huang Bai, Zhi Mu, and Rou Gui should not be used with Chi Shi Zhi.
During the use of Huang Bai, Zhi Mu, and Rou Gui, it is important to maintain a light diet and avoid alcohol.
Internal Use
As per medical advice, Huang Bai, Zhi Mu, and Rou Gui should be ground into a fine powder, sieved, mixed, and combined with an appropriate amount of honey and water to form pills, which should then be dried and taken internally.
