Hello everyone, I am Yi Lu Xiang Qian.
Today is Sunday, after a full day of work treating 65 patients, I am a bit tired. After resting at home, I would like to share a small case of medial knee pain with my friends.
Ms. Ning, a 55-year-old female, was admitted with medial knee pain on the right side.
At around 4 PM, a patient with medial knee pain on the right side came to the clinic, unable to walk properly and limping slightly.
I had her lie down on the treatment table and performed the first acupuncture on the Taichong (LR3) point on the affected side, needling until I felt the qi, then instructed her to move her knee joint.
After a few movements, she surprisingly felt much less pain, and a smile gradually appeared on her face.
Next, I located the pain point at the right knee pain area and inserted a fine needle, performing a dispersive technique. After removing the needle, I had her move again.
After moving a few more times, the pain had disappeared, leaving only a slight feeling of soreness. She kept saying how miraculous acupuncture is.
In fact, these two needles had already resolved her issue, but for better results, I casually needled the Yuan Tong Xian Gu (Yuan Tong Xian Gu).
After removing the needle, the patient was very happy, feeling that her entire leg was much lighter.
However, to enhance the effect further, I needed to adjust the qi distally, so I selected the opposite side’s Shizhu (LU5) and Quchi (LI11) points and had her walk with the needles in place.
As she walked, she laughed and said:
“The soreness in my leg is gone, acupuncture is truly amazing! This leg pain has tormented me for a long time; it hurt every time I walked, and I couldn’t step properly. I never expected that just a few needles would allow me to walk normally now. You are really incredible!”
I just smiled and then had her perform squats. She felt some tightness around the knee joint, but she told me that this was an old issue she had for many years. As long as her knee didn’t hurt and she could walk, that was enough.
After removing the needles, the patient happily walked back to her ward.
