“Classics of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Modernization——Study and Application of Classical Formulas”——Organized by the Shanghai Degree Committee and co-hosted by the Graduate School and the School of Basic Medicine of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Shanghai Graduate Summer School commenced on August 16. One hundred students from 19 universities across the country participated in the program. I was invited to give a lecture on the morning of August 21, titled “Water Retention and Qi Deficiency Syndrome·Wu Ling San”. The students listened attentively, and some of their questions reflected their knowledge. After the lecture, many students gathered around to continue the discussion, which was quite rare. Some students shared Mr. Zhen Liu Cheng’s viewpoint from his June lecture in Guangzhou, where he considered the texts of Kang Ping Ben and Kang Zhi Ben to be spurious. Others questioned whether the phrases “desiring to drink water but not thirsty” and “only wanting to rinse with water but not swallow” have similarities, while another student provided information about a patient he encountered who exhibited the “desiring to drink water but not thirsty” condition.
These interactions made me very happy. During the summer, sacrificing rest to come to Shanghai for ten days of classes, I believe these students are truly passionate about Traditional Chinese Medicine!
