Yesterday, we discussed four methods for health preservation and disease prevention during the summer solstice, but the most common method is through diet,by adjusting the meals and teas on the table, you can easily regulate your body without much time or effort.
02Eat 1 Meat: Lamb

Lamb soup is known as the “three-summer paste” among meats. Lamb has the effects of tonifying deficiency and dispelling cold, warming and supplementing qi and blood, benefiting the kidneys and replenishing vitality, stimulating appetite, and enhancing essence. For those with spleen and stomach deficiency with cold, during the summer solstice, it is essential to act promptly, using lamb in your diet to warm the middle and dispel cold.
During the summer solstice, lamb should not be braised, fried, or barbecued; it is best to simmer it into a rich lamb soup, which can include a small amount of winter melon or lotus root to balance its warming nature.
For a series of diseases caused by deficiency and cold, such as bronchitis, asthma, anemia, postpartum qi and blood deficiency, abdominal cold pain, weakness in the lower back and knees, impotence, and premature ejaculation, lamb has excellent therapeutic effects.
03Eat 2 Foods: Noodles and Eggs

There is a custom during the summer solstice: “First summer dumplings, second summer noodles, third summer pancakes with eggs.”
The principle is that dumplings and noodles are mostly made from wheat, which is sown in winter and harvested in summer, primarily nourishing heart qi. Compared to taking health supplements, eating proper noodles is more beneficial for the body,as it can replenish original qi, strengthen muscles and bones, and also nourish heart qi, providing the “strongest energy” to heart qi and blood.
Adding some vegetables, such as bitter melon, winter melon, or loofah, can clear the “stagnation” in the upper middle jiao, clear heart heat, and dispel prickly heat; eggs nourish yin and moisten dryness, and can also replenish blood and essence, making them an excellent ingredient for supplementing deficiency and enhancing brain power, so adding eggs to noodles or pancakes is also a good idea.
04Drink 3 Teas

🔸Ginger Date Tea:For those with a cold-deficient constitution, ginger date tea can tonify the middle jiao and dispel cold dampness, providing warmth and dispelling cold from the body, especially suitable for drinking in the morning during the summer solstice when yang energy is just beginning to rise. Using ginger date tea adds a boost, allowing the body’s circulation to be more effective, making it easier to metabolize cold dampness.
🔸Sour Plum Soup:Increases body fluids and hydration; in this hot and humid weather, sour plum soup is refreshing and quenches thirst, replenishing fluids and calming the spirit, 👉 the method for making sour plum soup is here.
🔸Chen Pi and Yi Yi Ren Tea:For those with a damp-heat constitution, with a yellow greasy tongue coating and prone to heat, warming drinks like ginger date tea are not suitable. Instead, take 3 grams of Chen Pi (dried tangerine peel) and 6 grams of Yi Yi Ren (Job’s tears) to brew tea.
To emphasize again, during the summer solstice, regardless of what adjustments you make, unless you are someone with a strong internal heat, everyone else should be cautious with cold drinks and cold foods; otherwise, even the most meticulous health preservation will be in vain~
