Jade Stone Gua Sha
“What is within must manifest without”—The essence of Danxi’s Heart Method points out that the facial skin is like a precise mirror, not only a facade of beauty but also a display screen of organ health. TCM’s holographic theory posits that the head and face gather the three Yang channels of the hands and feet, as well as the Ren and Du meridians, corresponding to the body’s five internal organs.
The classic TCM text, Huangdi Neijing, states in the Ling Shu: Pathogenic Qi and Disease Forms: “The twelve meridians and three hundred sixty-five collaterals all ascend to the face.” When internal issues such as deficiency, stagnation, or blockage arise, the face quickly signals with spots, bruises, wrinkles, dullness, redness, or yellowness, indicating an imbalance in the organs that requires adjustment. Only by properly regulating the internal state can the external appearance achieve fundamental improvement, vividly illustrating the TCM wisdom of “observing the external to infer the internal”.
The Scientific Code for High Beauty through Gua ShaFacial Gua Sha is guided by the holistic view and syndrome differentiation of TCM, emphasizing a gentle and soothing technique, with the skin slightly reddened as the ideal outcome, avoiding excessive bruising. Following meridians and acupoints, dividing areas for scraping, treating both root and branch, and harmonizing internal and external conditions, it has significant effects on beauty and treating facial skin disorders.
Detoxification and Beauty Jade stone Gua Sha can promote microcirculation in the face, accelerating the metabolism of toxins and waste within cells, helping to cleanse pores and enhance skin radiance. Regulating Qi and Blood Flow
By stimulating facial acupoints and meridians, it can improve local Qi and blood circulation, thereby enhancing overall facial vitality.
Relieving Local Fatigue
Gentle and moderate scraping can relax facial muscles, alleviating local tension caused by fatigue and stress.
Promoting Metabolism
The stimulating effect of Gua Sha on the skin layer can promote metabolism, helping to remove metabolic waste from the skin surface, making the skin appear clearer.
Delaying Skin Aging
Enhancing blood circulation and nutrient supply helps to reduce wrinkles, maintain skin hydration and elasticity, and to some extent delay the aging process of the skin.
Recommended Scope and Frequency
Jade stone Gua Sha is suitable for daily beauty care, alleviating dark circles and bags under the eyes, reducing wrinkles, moisturizing the skin, and delaying skin aging. Additionally, it can serve as an auxiliary treatment for certain facial skin issues such as acne, melasma, flat warts, and facial muscle spasms.
However, it is important to note that facial Gua Sha should be tailored to the individual, with a frequency of once a week being appropriate; excessive scraping may damage the skin’s stratum corneum.
Contraindications and Cautions
- Do not perform on the face during the acute phase of acne with obvious inflammation.
- Pregnant women and women during menstruation should use caution.
- Avoid scraping areas with implanted prosthetics.
- Individuals with excessively thin skin, open wounds, or large scars on the face should not undergo treatment.
- People with anemia should avoid facial Gua Sha, and those with severe cardiovascular, liver, kidney, hematopoietic system, or autoimmune diseases should not undergo treatment.
- Do not perform facial Gua Sha within 20 days after recent treatments such as exfoliation, injections, or laser therapy.
Precautions
• When in poor health or in a state of low immunity, facial Gua Sha should be postponed to avoid adverse reactions or worsening discomfort.
• It is recommended to drink an appropriate amount of warm water after Gua Sha to promote the expulsion of dampness from the body.
• Do not wash your face immediately after Gua Sha; it is advisable to wait half an hour before cleansing with warm water, avoiding cold water.
• Since Gua Sha can temporarily open facial pores, it is essential to keep warm, avoid direct cold wind, and prevent invasion of wind-cold; when going out, take sun protection measures to avoid secondary damage from UV rays.
