Yi Xian Wan (Epilepsy Pill)
【Prescription】Sheng Bai Fu Zi (Raw Typhonium) 40g, Tian Nan Xing (Processed Arisaema) 80g, Ban Xia (Processed Pinellia) 80g, Zhu Ya Zao (Pig Tooth Soap) 400g, Jiang Can (Stir-fried Silkworm) 80g, Wu Shao She (Processed Black Snake) 80g, Wu Gong (Centipede) 2g, Quan Xie (Scorpion) 16g, Bai Fan (Alum) 120g, Xiong Huang (Realgar) 12g, Zhu Sha (Cinnabar) 16g.
【Formula Analysis】In this formula, Sheng Bai Fu Zi expels wind and phlegm, calms seizures; Zhu Ya Zao expels phlegm and opens the orifices, disperses phlegm and resolves masses; these two herbs are the monarch herbs, clearing phlegm and calming wind to open the orifices. Bai Fan dries dampness and transforms phlegm; Tian Nan Xing dries dampness and transforms phlegm, expels wind and stops spasms; Ban Xia expels phlegm, descends rebellious Qi, and resolves phlegm and masses; Quan Xie, Jiang Can, Wu Shao She, and Wu Gong calm wind and stop spasms. Xiong Huang clears phlegm and detoxifies, dispels filth and opens the orifices; Zhu Sha calms the spirit and settles anxiety. Together, these herbs work to expel wind, transform phlegm, and stop seizures.
【Functions and Indications】Expels wind and transforms phlegm, calms seizures. Used for epilepsy caused by phlegm obstructing the brain channels, with symptoms of convulsions, coma, upward-rolling eyes, and foaming at the mouth.
【Preparation Method】The eleven ingredients, Zhu Sha and Xiong Huang are separately ground into very fine powders; the remaining nine herbs including Sheng Bai Fu Zi are crushed into fine powder, mixed with the above powders, sieved, and blended. Then, water is used to form pills, which are dried to obtain the final product.

【Formula Analysis】In this formula, Gou Ji and Tu Si Zi tonify the liver and kidneys, strengthen the muscles and bones, and treat lower back pain, serving as the monarch herbs. Sang Ji Sheng and Nu Zhen Zi tonify the liver and kidneys, strengthen the muscles and bones; Jin Ying Zi secures essence and controls urination, ensuring the essence is retained and nourished internally, serving as the minister herbs. Kidney deficiency makes the body susceptible to wind-dampness, leading to poor blood circulation, thus Ji Xue Teng and Hei Lao Hu Gen nourish blood, invigorate blood circulation, and relax the tendons and meridians; Qian Jin Ba and Niu Da Li expel wind-dampness and strengthen the muscles and bones. Together, these herbs work to strengthen the waist and kidneys, nourish blood, and expel wind.

Grind the herbs into fine powder, form honey pills the size of a wutong seed, and take 30 pills with warm yellow wine before meals, twice daily.
