Coix Seed (Yi Yi Ren)
Coix seed is sweet in flavor, slightly cold in nature, and enters the lung, spleen, liver, stomach, and large intestine meridians.
It is indicated for muscle spasms, inability to bend or stretch, rheumatic pain, promoting qi, benefiting the stomach and intestines, reducing edema, and long-term use can lighten the body and enhance qi.
In terms of consumption, we can add some coix seed when making soup, such as the coix seed, yam, and pork rib soup that I will share today:
Coix Seed, Yam, and Pork Rib Soup
Ingredients:350g pork ribs, 200g yam, 100g coix seed, 1 segment of green onion, 1 piece of ginger, a pinch of salt.Method:
1. Rinse the coix seed, wash the yam, chop the pork ribs into pieces and blanch them in boiling water, then rinse.
2. Place the coix seed, pork ribs, green onion, and ginger into a pot, add enough boiling water, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer for one and a half hours.
3. Peel and chop the yam, add it to the pot, and continue to simmer for another half hour, then sprinkle in a pinch of salt.
