Blood Stasis Cannot Supplement Qi and Blood; The More You Supplement, the More Blocked You Become?! A Thousand Lies Become Truth, It’s Terrifying!

Recently, many women have come to me for verification.

“Sister Yao, you often say that it’s important for women to supplement Qi and blood! But I have a blood stasis constitution, and I’m afraid to supplement because I’m worried it will cause blockage!”

I asked the health-conscious women, who said that?

They said, “They said it!”

Who are they?

“Online!”

I went to a well-known women’s lifestyle website out of curiosity, and sure enough, there were many such claims: blood stasis cannot supplement Qi and blood, and if you supplement, it will cause blockage; you must first resolve the stasis before supplementing Qi and blood?!

It seems that many of our health-conscious women have become afraid to supplement Qi and blood after reading these statements.

However, based on the medical books I’ve read over the years and the cases I’ve collected, the truth is quite the opposite!

The more a woman has a blood stasis constitution, the more she needs to supplement Qi and blood, and for many women with Qi and blood deficiency, it is necessary to supplement Qi and blood first, and then resolve the stasis.

In fact, the famous TCM practitioner Luo Dalun also shares this viewpoint in his book, “Luo Dalun Interprets the Treatise on Cold Damage”:

Blood Stasis Cannot Supplement Qi and Blood; The More You Supplement, the More Blocked You Become?! A Thousand Lies Become Truth, It's Terrifying!

If you use pills to invigorate blood and resolve stasis for a long time, you must also supplement Qi and blood!

Or supplement Qi and blood first (and then resolve stasis)!

You must not invigorate blood and resolve stasis when Qi and blood are insufficient.

If you give a weak person a treatment to resolve stasis, their righteous Qi will be consumed even more severely.

Why do I say this? There are two reasons.

——First, many women with a blood stasis constitution have this condition due to Qi and blood deficiency!

We know that Qi is the commander of blood, and blood is the mother of Qi. Qi promotes the circulation of blood; those with insufficient Qi and blood will have poor blood circulation, leading to blood stasis.

Therefore, many people who are weak and lack Qi, even if they are in a good mood and do not have liver Qi stagnation, still have significant stasis in their bodies.

Because Qi has been deficient for too long, blood cannot be pushed along, and over time, the stasis becomes heavier.

I have always had stasis, and I found that during the days I drank Yuling Paste, the purple color under my tongue was noticeably reduced, even better than when I took Sanqi Powder.

Later, I analyzed that the reason was that I had typical blood stasis caused by Qi deficiency in the past one or two years, and once I supplemented Qi and blood, it would be fine.

In this case, if you do not supplement Qi and blood, what is the use of just invigorating blood?

Even if the stasis is temporarily eliminated, your Qi is still deficient; once you stop taking the medicine, the stasis will return, and repeatedly resolving stasis could harm your body.

Moreover, if it is said that invigorating blood and resolving stasis cannot supplement Qi and blood, then I ask, what about the famous TCM formula, Peach Blossom Four Substance Decoction? Peach kernel invigorates blood, while the Four Substance Decoction supplements blood; isn’t this also a combination of invigorating blood and supplementing blood?

There are many similar examples! Many famous formulas have both blood supplementing and invigorating effects, such as Eight Treasure Decoction and Ten Complete Great Supplement Decoction, which all contain Chuanxiong (Ligusticum chuanxiong), which invigorates blood.

Our ancestors have written the correct answers for everyone; supplementing Qi and blood and invigorating blood and resolving stasis can completely occur simultaneously, just do it!

——Second, many invigorating blood methods can lead to deficiency if used for too long.

I once received a consultation from a health-conscious woman who said she had a blood stasis constitution, and her symptoms indicated that she should be suitable for Xuefu Zhuyu Wan (Blood Mansion Resolving Stasis Pill), so she took it.

After taking it, whether it invigorated blood or not is another story.

She felt dizzy and weak, and her body was very uncomfortable.

I suggested she try a different method: next time when taking Xuefu Zhuyu Wan, take it with Mulberry Paste.

After she followed my advice, indeed, the effect of taking Xuefu Zhuyu Wan improved significantly, and she no longer felt dizzy or weak.

Why does invigorating blood for a long time lead to deficiency?

Everyone has used a drain, right?

When you clear a drain, you remove the sludge and dirt, but you also let the water in the reservoir flow out. The drain is clear, but the water in the reservoir is also less. At this time, we cannot just clear the drain; we need to add water to the reservoir.

Therefore, in such situations, we cannot just invigorate blood; we must supplement blood! If we only clear without supplementing, the body’s blood reservoir will be in crisis, and the complexion will not improve, and the body will not be healthy.

In TCM, there are many methods to clear, such as purging and sweating. After clearing, it is not just a matter of leaving it alone; good TCM practitioners pay great attention to prognosis. After sweating, what should we do? Supplement the righteous Qi and regulate the spleen and stomach; this way, the body can fully recover, and diseases will not recur.

That’s all.

Women with a blood stasis constitution should not be afraid to supplement Qi and blood.

In fact, the more one has a blood stasis constitution, the more one needs to supplement Qi and blood.

Do not be afraid of supplementing Qi and blood.

The scope of supplementing Qi and blood is broad; it is not just about taking supplements like deer antler, donkey-hide gelatin, or ginseng.

Eating well, sleeping well, and avoiding internal consumption are also ways to supplement Qi and blood.

At the same time, this also indicates that there is a wealth of information online, and everyone must learn to discern.

If you cannot discern, read books, especially the most authoritative and classic texts, such as “Treatise on Cold Damage”, “Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber”, “Compendium of Materia Medica”, and TCM-related textbooks.

In addition to TCM textbooks, these books also have vernacular versions that are not difficult to understand.

Look at the viewpoints of famous doctors; some modern TCM practitioners I particularly like are: Mr. Hao Wanshan, Mr. Huang Huang, Mr. Xia Guicheng, and Mr. Luo Dalun. If you have time, you can find their articles and books to read. They are practitioners who combine TCM theory with practice, and they are very credible.
