Currently, many cancer patients are adopting Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for treatment. What advantages does TCM have in managing tumors? Today, I will discuss how TCM regulates tumors.
From a pathological perspective, TCM believes that tumors are diseases characterized by zheng xu (deficiency of the righteous Qi) and xie shi (excess of evil Qi). Zheng refers to the righteous Qi, which represents the normal physiological functions of our organs and our body’s ability to resist diseases. Xie refers to the evil Qi, which includes various carcinogenic factors, both external and internal.
TCM’s approach to tumor regulation primarily follows the principle of fu zheng qu xie (supporting the righteous and eliminating the evil). The evil Qi in tumors mainly consists of tan shi (phlegm-dampness), yu xue (stasis of blood), and ai du (cancer toxins), which intertwine to form tangible masses. Zheng refers to the body’s righteous Qi, and its deficiency can include qi xu (Qi deficiency), xue xu (blood deficiency), yin xu (Yin deficiency), and yang xu (Yang deficiency).
Next, I will share a formula that supports the righteous and eliminates the evil. This formula is called Fu Zheng Xiao Liu Tang (Fu Zheng Tumor-Reducing Decoction). It consists of Sheng Huang Qi (Raw Astragalus), Bai Zhu (White Atractylodes), Jiao Gu Lan (Gynostemma), Shi Hu (Dendrobium), Sheng Yi Yi Ren (Raw Job’s Tears), Zhu Ling (Polyporus), Bai Hua She She Cao (Oldenlandia), Teng Li Gen (Vine Pear Root), Ye Pu Tao Gen (Wild Grape Root), Ba Yue Zha (Eight-Month Zha), Tian San Qi (Three-Seven), Ji Nei Jin (Chicken Inner Gold), and Sheng Gan Cao (Raw Licorice).
In this formula, Huang Qi and Bai Zhu strengthen the spleen and benefit Qi to support the foundation. Jiao Gu Lan enhances immunity to support the body against cancer. Shi Hu and Sheng Gan Cao nourish Yin, generate fluids, and clear heat. Bai Hua She She Cao, Teng Li Gen, Ye Pu Tao Gen, E Zhu, Ba Yue Zha, and San Qi clear heat and detoxify, reduce tumors, and resolve stasis. Sheng Yi Yi Ren and Zhu Ling transform turbidity and inhibit cancer. Ji Nei Jin strengthens the spleen and stomach to resolve accumulation. The entire formula works to strengthen the spleen and stomach, benefit Qi, nourish Yin, clear heat and detoxify, and resolve stasis to reduce tumors.
In clinical applications, adjustments may be made based on the location of the cancer to enhance the efficacy of the formula. This formula is suitable for patients with malignant tumors characterized by qi yin liang xu (deficiency of both Qi and Yin) and zheng xu xie shi (deficiency of righteous Qi and excess of evil Qi). When combined with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, it can reduce toxicity and enhance efficacy; when used before and after surgery, it can boost immunity, promote recovery, and effectively treat tumors, preventing recurrence and metastasis.
That concludes today’s topic. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a message.
