Below are several medicinal dishes that can treat Qi and blood deficiency, using easily obtainable ingredients and simple preparation methods.
Insufficient Qi and blood corresponds to Qi deficiency (气虚) and blood deficiency (血虚) in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The consequences of Qi and blood deficiency can lead to reduced organ function and premature aging. Qi deficiency manifests as weakened organ function and poor disease resistance, presenting symptoms such as cold limbs, spontaneous sweating, dizziness, tinnitus, mental fatigue, and palpitations. Blood deficiency can be observed through pale complexion, dry skin, brittle hair, cracked nails, blurred vision, numbness in hands and feet, insomnia with vivid dreams, forgetfulness, and mental confusion.
All the following medicinal dishes are derived from folk recipes. The tradition of preserving effective TCM prescriptions has been passed down through generations, becoming folk secrets. So why do folk remedies exist? They were originally prescribed by renowned physicians.
1. Angelica (Dang Gui) Boiled Egg
[Ingredients] Eggs 2 Angelica (Dang Gui) 9 grams
[Preparation] Add 3 bowls of water to the Angelica, place the boiled and shelled eggs with several small holes poked in them, and boil until the liquid reduces to 1 bowl.
[Function] Nourishes Qi and blood, regulates menstruation. Suitable for blood stagnation and Qi deficiency type amenorrhea.
[Dosage] Take 2 times daily, eat the egg and drink the soup.
2. Black Bean Egg Wine Soup
[Ingredients] Black beans 60 grams Eggs 2 Rice wine 120 grams
[Preparation] Cook the black beans and eggs together over low heat, remove the shells from the eggs after they are cooked, and continue cooking.
[Function] Regulates the middle, descends Qi, alleviates pain. Suitable for Qi and blood deficiency type dysmenorrhea.
[Dosage] Take 2 times daily, add rice wine when consuming, eat the egg and drink the soup.
3. Yellow Wine Stewed Carp
[Ingredients] Live Carp 1 (approximately 500 grams) Yellow wine as needed
[Preparation] Clean the carp by removing scales and entrails, cook until half done, then add yellow wine and simmer.
[Function] Promotes Qi and lactation. Treats postpartum Qi and blood deficiency, insufficient milk production.
[Dosage] Eat the fish and drink the soup, once daily.
5. Ginger Date Brown Sugar Soup
[Ingredients] Dried Ginger Jujube Brown Sugar each 30 grams
[Preparation] Remove the pits from the jujubes, wash them, slice the dried ginger, and simmer with brown sugar.
[Function] Tonifies the spleen and stomach, warms the middle, and benefits Qi. Suitable for cold damp stagnation type and Qi and blood deficiency type dysmenorrhea.
[Dosage] Take 2 times daily, warm when consuming.
6. Dried Lychee and Jujube
[Ingredients] Dried Lychee Jujube each 7 pieces
[Function] Nourishes Qi and blood. Suitable for blood loss anemia.
[Dosage] 1 dose daily, divided into 2 servings.
7. Lotus Seed and Longan Porridge
[Ingredients] Lotus Seeds 15 grams Longan Flesh 10 grams Glutinous Rice 30 grams
[Preparation] Cook the lotus seeds, longan flesh, and glutinous rice together to make porridge.
