Today, I will share a medicinal dish called Qi Blood Sanbao Soup, which should be consumed once a week to easily regulateessence, qi, and blood, allowing your essence and blood to be replenished all at once.
This Qi Blood Sanbao Soup is very simple to make, justuse an old hen or black chicken with Astragalus (Huang Qi), Angelica (Dang Gui), and Codonopsis (Dang Shen) to make the soup, eating the meat and drinking the broth, which not only regulates essence, qi, and blood but also tastes delicious.
Astragalus can tonify deficiency
Deficiency leads to weakness, and strength leads to deficiency
A lack of energy is a typical manifestation of deficiency. When the body is healthy, there is no consumption of internal diseases, and energy and physical strength are naturally sufficient. As the Daoist medicine states, “The five organs in harmony dispel a hundred diseases.”

The main functions of Astragalus areto tonify deficiency, benefit qi, secure the exterior, promote diuresis, and reduce swelling. It also protects the liver, detoxifies, and drains pus, effectively reducing blood viscosity, dilating blood vessels, decreasing thrombosis, lowering blood pressure, and regulating myocardial dynamics, as well as having bidirectional regulation of blood sugar.
Codonopsis benefits qi
Qi is the foundation of life; when qi is obstructed, blood stagnates
Qi is the most fundamental substance that constitutes and maintains human life activities, belonging to the category of human essence and qi. The essence and qi of the human body are stored in the five organs, hence the Suwen states: “The so-called five organs are those that store essence and qi without leaking.”

Codonopsis, as a traditional tonic herb, has the functions oftonifying the middle, benefiting qi, strengthening the spleen and stomach, enhancing immunity, dilating blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and promoting hematopoiesis. There are many traditional Chinese herbs for tonifying qi, but compared to them, Codonopsis is more suitable for daily dietary therapy due to its mild side effects, which is why we often see it on our dining tables.
Angelica nourishes blood
Life is based on blood
Food is digested and decomposed into essential nutrients that support life metabolism, known as body fluids. Body fluids permeate into the blood vessels, becoming one of the basic components for blood formation. Body fluids fill the blood and nourish and lubricate the blood vessels, allowing blood to circulate continuously. The main effects of Angelica areto nourish and invigorate blood, promote blood circulation, regulate menstruation, relieve pain, and moisten dryness and smooth the intestines.
