【Complexion Characteristics】

Complexion is not significantly different from that of a normal constitution, or may appear pale; usually short of breath, low voice, less talkative, lack of energy, and easily fatigued; especially after activity, prone to sweating, dizziness, and lightheadedness. Eyes lack luster, hair is dull, personality is introverted, and risk-averse.

【Psychological Characteristics】

Introverted personality, unstable emotions, and a dislike for risk-taking since childhood.

【Dietary and Lifestyle Characteristics】

Sleep is generally acceptable, but prone to insomnia or excessive sleepiness, forgetfulness, and vivid dreams. Small appetite, bland taste, lack of flavor in food, prone to abdominal distension. Urination is relatively frequent, bowel movements are normal or often constipated, and prone to diarrhea.

They are intolerant to cold, wind, heat, and dampness, and have a weaker ability to adapt to natural and social environments compared to those with normal constitution.

【Dietary Health Preservation – Dietary Recommendations】

People with Qi deficiency should avoid foods that deplete Qi, cold and raw foods, and greasy or spicy foods.

Foods to Avoid:

Avoid excessive consumption of raw, cold, bitter, and greasy foods, such as buckwheat, watermelon, cantaloupe, pears, grapefruit, coconut, oranges, mustard greens, garlic chives, starfruit, persimmons, bitter melon, water spinach, bean sprouts, seaweed, kelp, watercress, fermented black beans, pepper, clams, and shellfish, especially avoid excessive drinking of cooling teas that clear heat and drain fire. Eat less sweet and salty foods, and maintain a light diet.

Foods Suitable for Qi Deficiency Constitution:

Should consume foods that are neutral to slightly warm and have nourishing properties, with a gradual and gentle approach to nourishment, avoiding harsh or excessive supplementation.

Recommended Foods:

(1) Fruits: jujube (大枣), raisins, apples, longan flesh, oranges, and cardamom.

(2) Vegetables: white broad beans, sweet potatoes, Chinese yam (怀山药), ginkgo nuts, fox nuts, pumpkin, carrots, potatoes, and lotus root.

(3) Meats: black-boned chicken, pork stomach, beef, lamb, quail, and quail eggs.

(4) Seafood: loach, eel, crucian carp, and carp.

(5) Seasonings: maltose and honey.

(6) Grains: glutinous rice, millet, soy products, japonica rice, corn, and peanuts.
