Fire needle, also known as “burning needle,” “scorching needle,” or “refined needle,” is a method of external treatment that involves using a specific needle heated until red and then quickly inserted into local lesions or acupoints to treat diseases.

Procedure Steps

① Positioning Instruct the patient to take a comfortable position, fully exposing the skin lesions, and avoid sudden movements that may change the needle insertion site; after positioning, disinfect the affected area.

Heating the Needle The operator holds an alcohol lamp in the left hand, ignites it, and brings it close to the desired needle insertion site. The right hand holds the needle like a pen, heating the needle tip and front part at an acute angle in the outer flame until it glows red.

Needle Insertion After disinfection and heating, apply force with the wrist to quickly puncture the lesion site, adjusting the depth according to the lesion’s morphology.
