It is said that the culture of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is vast and profound.
Have you heard of fire needles, in addition to gold and silver needles?
When I first heard about fire needles,
In fact, the fire needle therapy has a long history,
first mentioned as “burning needle” in the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon),
it is a traditional external treatment method.
The Medicine King, Sun Simiao, once recorded:
“Fire needles also use sharp needles, heated with oil fire,
it must be very hot; if not hot enough, it can harm the person.”
Fire needles applied to skin lesions or acupoints
can dispel heat and resolve stasis, soften hardness and disperse masses, expel necrotic tissue and pus,
reduce swelling and relieve pain, eliminate dampness and stop itching, promote tissue regeneration and heal wounds.
This therapy has endured for thousands of years,
continuously developing and improving,
and has now become a standardized and safe treatment method,
proven effective in many fields,
especially in treating skin diseases.
With the arrival of spring, allergies are on the rise,
and many skin diseases are starting to recur,
so why not try the miraculous “fire needle”?
01Herpes Zoster
In TCM, herpes zoster is believed to be caused by the accumulation of fire toxin or damp-heat stagnation in the skin. Fire needle therapy for herpes zoster uses fire to attack toxins, drawing out pathogens, achieving the effects of invigorating blood circulation, resolving stasis, clearing heat, and draining dampness, thus alleviating the rash and pain, significantly reducing the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia and improving the patient’s quality of life after treatment.
02
Acne, Furuncles, and Other Inflammatory Skin Diseases
Fire needles can release pus from cysts and pustules, accelerating the recovery from inflammation and shortening the duration of the inflammatory process. Using fire needles to puncture the affected area can instantly raise the temperature at the site, killing or inhibiting pathogenic bacteria. Simultaneously, the high temperature can cause local inflammatory tissue necrosis, promoting the outflow of white blood cells while enhancing their phagocytic function, activating the body’s immune response, thus facilitating the resolution of inflammatory mediators.
03
Neurodermatitis and Other Pruritic Diseases
By treating the affected area with fire needle therapy, it can stimulate and promote the generation of new blood vessels in the local lesions, thereby improving local blood flow and circulation, which can inhibit the production of pruritic mediators and accelerate the absorption of these mediators by the body, thus achieving the effect of relieving itching.
Currently, our hospital’s TCM department is conducting fire needle therapy,
mainly for treating various skin diseases,
such as acne, folliculitis, furuncles, and carbuncles,
as well as vitiligo, herpes zoster, nodular prurigo,
neurodermatitis, chronic eczema, and other difficult-to-treat skin diseases,
which have achieved good clinical results.
Important Notes:
1. After fire needle treatment on the face, wash with clean water only, do not use cleansing products.
2. After fire needle treatment, do not pick at scabs; let them fall off naturally.
3. After fire needle treatment, a light diet is recommended.
