  Pronunciation: Lian Qiao

  Aliases: Lian Ke, Huang Hua Tiao, Huang Lian Tiao Hua, Huang Qi Dan, Qing Qiao, Luo Qiao, Han Lian Zi, Da Qiao Zi, Kong Ke, Kong Qiao

  Functions: Clears heat, detoxifies, disperses nodules, and reduces swelling. Used for treating warm heat, carbuncles, rashes, abscesses, and urinary obstruction.

  Nature and Flavor: Bitter and neutral.

  Indications: Cold and heat conditions, mouse fistula, scrofula, abscesses, foul sores, goiter, heat accumulation, and toxic conditions. Also known as Yi Qiao, Lan Hua, Zhi, and San Lian. Grows in mountainous valleys.

  According to the Famous Physicians: Also known as Zhe Gen, harvested in August and dried in the shade.

  The Er Ya states: Lian, Yi Qiao. Guo Pu notes: Also known as Lian Tiao, as mentioned in the Ben Cao.
