Small Knowledge
1. The effect of radiation protection clothing for pregnant women is limited: Although the fabric of radiation protection clothing can indeed block radiation, these clothes have large openings, making their ability to block electromagnetic radiation limited.
2. Juicing fruits is not as good as juicing vegetables: Drinking two cups of fruit juice is equivalent to consuming the sugar content of 4-6 fruits. It is better to blend a large amount of vegetables with a small amount of fruit and drink it with the pulp.
Malignant tumors, cerebral infarction, coronary heart disease, ovarian cysts, uterine fibroids, various nodules, etc., may all be related to a single constitution, which is “blood stasis”. As the saying goes, “One stasis leads to a hundred diseases”. How is this constitution formed? How can it be identified? And how should it be regulated?
What is Blood Stasis
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) believes that blood stasis refers to a pathological state where blood circulation is obstructed or stagnant. Under normal circumstances, blood flows smoothly throughout the body, nourishing the organs and tissues. If blood flow is obstructed due to reasons such as Qi stagnation or Qi deficiency, it results in a pathological state of blood stasis.
Harm of Blood Stasis
Blood circulation not only transports nutrients throughout the body but also carries metabolic waste to excretory organs. If Qi and blood stagnate, nutrients cannot reach the necessary areas, and metabolic waste accumulates in inappropriate places, leading to dysfunction of the organs. TCM believes that “stasis transforms into heat and stasis transforms into toxins”, which is one of the fundamental causes of various diseases such as thyroid nodules, breast nodules, uterine fibroids, lung nodules, and malignant tumors.
Typical Symptoms
1
Dark
The tongue color is dark, and the complexion is dull without luster.
2
Purple
The tongue appears dark purple. Additionally, the sublingual veins are dark purple, thick, and tortuous, which are obvious characteristics of blood stasis.
3
Spots
Spots appear on the cheeks or even the entire face.
4
Pain
Pain caused by blood stasis is characterized by a stabbing pain in a specific location, especially prevalent at night.
5
Rough
The skin is rough.
6
Fullness
Feeling of fullness in the abdomen.
7
Forgetfulness
Poor memory and forgetfulness.
Causes of Blood Stasis
1
Stagnation
Emotional distress, excessive thinking, and lack of exercise can lead to Qi stagnation, which can cause blood stasis.
2
Deficiency
Qi deficiency cannot effectively promote blood circulation, leading to blood stagnation.
3
Cold
Blood congeals in the presence of cold; excessive use of air conditioning and consumption of cold drinks in summer can exacerbate blood stasis.
4
Heat
Excessive internal heat can lead to thickened blood, causing stagnation.
5
Moisture
Excessive dampness can obstruct Qi flow, which in turn leads to poor blood circulation.
Small Recipes for Activating Blood and Resolving Stasis
1
Hawthorn and Dried Tangerine Peel Soup with Lean Meat
Preparation: Use a small amount of chicken and pork, soak to remove blood, blanch in cold water, then remove. Add about ten slices of dried hawthorn, a little dried tangerine peel, ginger, salt, and hot water, and steam in a steamer for two hours.
2
Hawthorn Juice with Lotus Root
Preparation: In a pot, add about 200 ml of water, 20 grams of dried hawthorn, rock sugar, brown sugar, white sugar, two slices of lemon, and a little white vinegar, and bring to a boil. Then refrigerate for about 24 hours. Slice the lotus root, soak in white vinegar water, rinse with cold water to remove starch, then blanch and remove. Pour the chilled hawthorn juice over the lotus root slices, mix well, and add a little kumquat peel.
Tip: These ingredients can resolve stasis
Rose: Soothes the liver, resolves stasis, nourishes the heart, and calms the spirit.
Hawthorn: Activates blood and resolves stasis.
Kumquat: Clears the lungs, transforms phlegm, regulates Qi, and resolves stasis.
Brown Sugar: Warms the meridians, activates blood, alleviates pain, and resolves stasis.
How to Improve Blood Stasis Constitution
1. Maintain a regular schedule, ensure adequate sleep, and go to bed early and rise early.
2. Eat regularly and pay attention to emotional regulation.
3. Moderate exercise helps promote the smooth flow of Qi and blood.
Tip: Five and Eight Section Brocade
The Eight Section Brocade is an excellent exercise for promoting the flow of Qi and blood, especially the “Double Hands Holding Up the Sky” movement, which should be done 6-8 times per set to help smooth Qi flow and promote blood circulation.
