Whether in the wind or in the rain, I am here waiting for you~
Hua (滑) (Yang within Yin)
The Hua pulse is characterized by a smooth and flowing quality,
It moves freely and fluidly, resembling pearls responding to touch (from Mai Jing).
It flows as if it is about to slip away.
The Hua pulse indicates an excess of Yin Qi, hence the pulse flows smoothly like water.
The pulse is the residence of blood.
When blood is abundant, the pulse is Hua; thus, it is suitable for the kidney pulse;
When Qi is abundant, the pulse is Se (涩); thus, it is suitable for the lung pulse.
“Body Type Similarity Poem”
The Hua pulse is like pearls flowing smoothly,
It moves freely yet returns again.
Do not mistake Hua for the same category,
Pulse counts should only be observed in intervals.
(Hua is like pearls, while Se is six beats)
“Main Disease Poem”
The Hua pulse indicates a decline in Yang Yuan Qi,
Phlegm causes numerous diseases and food leads to disasters.
Above it causes vomiting and below it accumulates blood,
In women, the pulse regulates and indicates pregnancy.
The inch pulse is Hua, phlegm causes vomiting,
Acid reflux, strong tongue, or cough.
At the Guan position, retained food and liver-spleen heat,
Thirst, dysentery, and urination should be observed at the Chi position.
The Hua pulse indicates phlegm and fluid,
Floating Hua indicates wind-phlegm, sinking Hua indicates food-phlegm,
Hua with a rapid pulse indicates phlegm-fire, Hua that is short indicates retained food.
Today I realized that my wandering is just a way to get closer to you.
