On February 23, the holiday exploration team welcomed
the students of Class 2, 2020 from Park Primary School
Everyone entered the Xinmei Garden base in Tong’an District
to enjoy happy farming in the early spring fields~
They harvested much innocence and beauty
Let’s take a look together~
01
Learning About Medicinal Herbs and Promoting Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture
Upon entering the base, the children immersed themselves in an atmosphere of exploration. In the Su Song Herbal Garden, through the in-depth yet simple explanations of the research mentors, the students learned classic cases from the “Bencao Tujing” and learned to identify herbs such as Houttuynia cordata (Yuxingcao) and Artemisia argyi (Ai Cao), understanding their effects and uses in Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Artemisia argyi (Ai Cao) has effects such as dispelling cold, relieving pain, unblocking meridians, and has antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-allergic properties, holding an outstanding position in the field of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The children learned the traditional skill of making moxa sticks. From grinding the Ai Cao, selecting the moxa fluff, to rolling the moxa sticks, everyone was very engaged, striving to master every detail, and felt the profoundness of Traditional Chinese Medicine culture.
They also collaborated in groups to create a record observation table for the medicinal herb seedlings, gaining a deeper understanding of the growth patterns of plants through hands-on practice, personally experiencing nature, and comprehending the unique charm of Traditional Chinese Medicine culture, further igniting their love for traditional culture and planting the seeds of inheriting the spirit of Su Song and Traditional Chinese Medicine culture in their hearts.
02
Immersive Agricultural Planting: Honoring the Glory of Labor
Under the guidance of the mentors, the students conducted a soilless cultivation experiment in the Agricultural Technology Museum, listening attentively to the teacher’s explanation on how to prepare nutrient solutions, and personally engaging in the operation to experience the wonders of soilless cultivation. They also learned about the principles and methods of hydroponic vegetable planting, gaining a direct understanding of the advancements in modern agricultural technology.
During the space vegetable decoding session, the students carefully observed crops grown in space, curiously searching for the mutation characteristics of these crops. Everyone was focused, striving to correlate the knowledge taught by the teacher with the actual objects in front of them.
In the plowing experience, the children worked together, putting their all into every inch of land they turned over. This laborious process allowed them to deeply appreciate the hardships of ancient farming, understanding that food is hard-earned, thus learning to respect the fruits of labor.
With labor comes harvest. The students went to the chili house to pick chilies, experiencing the joy of reaping what they sowed, thus understanding the importance of being grounded and taking one step at a time.
In this journey of “intimate contact” with agriculture, the students not only exercised their practical skills and observational analysis abilities, but also felt the charm of the integration of technology and agriculture, igniting a strong interest in scientific exploration, and accumulating valuable experiences for their future learning and growth.

Simulating CS Field Battles: Forging a Shining Team Spirit
Simulating real-life CS field battles was the most exciting part for the students. Wearing combat gear, they engaged in a thrilling battle on the “battlefield”, applying what they learned in practical combat drills. The students displayed vibrant spirits and youthful energy, while also developing organizational skills, team coordination abilities, and the courage to face challenges head-on.
With a wealth of experiences, the students of Class 2, 2020 at Park Primary School returned home satisfied, this holiday exploration activity not only broadened their knowledge but also cultivated various abilities through practice. It is believed that in the future, the students will apply the knowledge they have learned and the spirit they have comprehended to their lives and studies, continuously growing and progressing, exploring the unknown world with even greater enthusiasm and positive attitudes.
