With the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the fight against cancer, more and more tumor patients are adopting TCM for their treatment. So, what advantages does TCM have in managing tumors? Today, I will explain how TCM regulates tumors.
From a pathological perspective, TCM believes that tumors are diseases characterized by deficiency of the righteous qi and excess of pathogenic factors. The righteous qi refers to the normal physiological functions of our organs and the body’s ability to resist disease. The pathogenic factors are the evil qi, which includes various carcinogenic factors, both external and internal.
TCM’s approach to tumor management primarily follows the principle of strengthening the righteous qi and eliminating pathogenic factors. Next, I would like to share a TCM herbal formula that strengthens the righteous qi and eliminates pathogenic factors, called “Fu Zheng Xiao Liu Tang” (Strengthening the Righteous Qi and Dissolving Tumors Decoction). This formula consists of Huang Qi (Astragalus), Bai Zhu (Atractylodes), Jiao Gu Lan (Gynostemma), Shi Hu (Dendrobium), Sheng Yi Yi Ren (Job’s Tears), Zhu Ling (Polyporus), Bai Hua She She Cao (Oldenlandia), Teng Li Gen (Ampelopsis), Ye Pu Tao Gen (Wild Grape Root), Ba Yue Zha (Citrus), Tian San Qi (Notoginseng), Ji Nei Jin (Chicken Gizzard Lining), and Sheng Gan Cao (Raw Licorice).
The formula includes Huang Qi and Bai Zhu to strengthen the spleen and benefit qi, thereby reinforcing the foundation. Jiao Gu Lan is known for its immune-boosting properties, which help inhibit tumor growth. Shi Hu and Sheng Gan Cao nourish yin fluids and generate saliva while also clearing heat and harmonizing the middle. Bai Hua She She Cao, Teng Li Gen, Ye Pu Tao Gen, E Zhu (Curcuma), Ba Yue Zha, and San Qi have effects of clearing heat and detoxifying, dissolving tumors, and regulating qi and resolving stasis. Sheng Yi Yi Ren and Zhu Ling can transform turbidity and suppress cancer. Ji Nei Jin aids in strengthening the spleen and stomach, promoting digestion and resolving accumulation.
The synergistic effects of the entire formula provide benefits such as strengthening the spleen and stomach, benefiting qi and nourishing yin, clearing heat and detoxifying, and resolving stasis and dissolving tumors, offering excellent supportive care for tumor patients.
This formula is suitable for patients with malignant tumors characterized by both qi and yin deficiency, as well as deficiency of the righteous qi and excess of pathogenic factors. When used in conjunction with radiotherapy and chemotherapy, it can reduce toxicity and enhance efficacy; when used before and after surgery, it helps to boost immunity, promote recovery, and effectively control tumor growth, preventing recurrence and metastasis.
