Men’s health issues can often be detected through the tongue.
Today, let’s discuss three common tongue manifestations that men fear the most: Gan Yu She (Liver Qi Stagnation Tongue), Xue Yu She (Blood Stasis Tongue), and Tan Shi She (Phlegm-Dampness Tongue). These not only affect quality of life but may also lead to various health problems.
1: Tan Shi She (Phlegm-Dampness Tongue)
Characteristics: The tongue is enlarged, with a thick, white, greasy coating.
Main Symptoms: Individuals with heavy phlegm-dampness often feel heavy in the body, drowsy, and may experience edema. Men may also encounter issues such as dampness in the yin nang (scrotum) and reduced function.
For treatment, we can refer to Er Chen Tang (Two Aged Decoction) combined with Cang Fu Dao Tan Wan (Cangfu Phlegm-Resolving Pill), which can strengthen the spleen, eliminate dampness, transform phlegm, and regulate Qi.
2: Xue Yu She (Blood Stasis Tongue)
Characteristics: The tongue appears dark purple, with petechiae and ecchymosis on the surface, and the sublingual veins are cyanotic.
Main Symptoms: Blood stasis can lead to localized pain, a dull complexion, and other issues.
For treatment, we can refer to Xue Fu Zhu Yu Tang (Blood Mansion Eliminating Stasis Decoction), which can invigorate blood circulation, eliminate stasis, and improve Qi and blood flow.
3: Gan Yu She (Liver Qi Stagnation Tongue)
Characteristics: The sides of the tongue are swollen, with a thin white coating, and the tongue body appears dark.
Main Symptoms: When liver Qi stagnation occurs, it can lead to depression, irritability, rib-side distension, and even issues such as bo qi (erectile dysfunction) and short duration.
For treatment, we can refer to Chai Hu Shu Gan San (Bupleurum Liver-Soothing Powder), which can soothe the liver, relieve stagnation, and promote the smooth flow of Qi.
These three tongue manifestations reflect the issues of Gan Yu (Liver Qi Stagnation), Xue Yu (Blood Stasis), and Tan Shi (Phlegm-Dampness), which severely impact men’s health and quality of life. If you notice similar symptoms, do not ignore them; timely adjustment is key!
Of course, medication should be guided by a physician for differential diagnosis and treatment; do not self-medicate!
