Hello, Tutu:

A few days ago, I sprained my ankle, and surprisingly, it healed in just three days. I really want to share this wonderful herb with everyone, so I took the liberty to submit this case study.

Last Friday evening, while carrying my child downstairs, I didn’t pay attention and fell on the last step, landing hard on my bottom. My right foot was in severe pain, but thankfully I held onto my child tightly and didn’t drop her. I quickly set her down, sat for several minutes, and when the pain in my foot subsided a bit, I leaned against the wall to stand up and limped to my brother’s shop with my child.

I took off my shoes and socks to check; my ankle didn’t hurt, but the sole of my foot did. A few acquaintances in the shop heard about my sprained ankle and recommended using Wai Jiao (Water Banana) leaves as a poultice. One friend even went home to fetch five leaves for me.

After about an hour, my foot started to hurt more. My mother saw the Wai Jiao and immediately went next door to get some ginger, which she crushed and mixed with the Wai Jiao leaves. We then heated the mixture on the stove until it softened, took a leaf, and applied it all over the sole of my foot, wrapping it with the other two leaves and the ginger.

By the time I got home that night, I couldn’t move my foot at all and had to hop back on one leg using a stick. While sleeping, my entire right leg was sore and painful, and I felt so uncomfortable all night.

The next day, I woke up and tried to put my foot on the ground, and surprisingly, I could step on it. I continued to apply the poultice during the day, but I still couldn’t put much weight on my right foot while walking. That evening, I heated the remaining two leaves with ginger and wrapped them around my foot again. In the middle of the night, when I got up to go to the bathroom, I noticed my foot didn’t hurt anymore, so I removed the poultice.

By the third day, I was walking normally, although I felt a slight pain in a certain position, but I didn’t pay much attention to it. By yesterday, I was completely healed!

Yesterday afternoon, I took a picture of the entire Wai Jiao plant, and a friend in the WeChat group told me it’s called Shui Gui Jiao (Water Banana). I looked it up and found that it is used for rheumatic joint pain, bruises, inflammation, carbuncles, and hemorrhoids.

This herb is truly miraculous and should definitely be recommended. I had never heard of it before, and this has been a learning experience for me.This plant is called Shui Gui Jiao (Water Banana), which has a pungent taste and warm nature. It belongs to the liver and kidney meridians. It has the effects of relaxing tendons, promoting blood circulation, reducing swelling, and alleviating pain. It is indicated for rheumatic joint pain, bruises, carbuncles, and hemorrhoids.I checked the specific usage (from “Fujian Medicinal Herbs”): 1. For treating rheumatic joint pain: Fresh leaves of Shui Gui Jiao crushed and applied externally.2. For treating bruises: Fresh leaves of Shui Gui Jiao crushed, mixed with a little alcohol, heated, and applied to the affected area; or take Shui Gui Jiao leaves, prick several small holes, soak in hot rice soup until soft, and wrap around the affected area.3. For early-stage carbuncles: Fresh leaves of Shui Gui Jiao crushed, mixed with brown sugar, heated, and applied to the affected area. This plant grows in tropical regions and is widely cultivated in Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Yunnan provinces in China, so the usage methods are derived from “Fujian Medicinal Herbs”. It is likely not easily found in the north. So friends in the south, make sure to document this miraculous herb just in case.Once again, thank you to the author for sharing, and I look forward to receiving more case studies from you.
