The Magical Effects of Rehmannia (Shu Di Huang)

The effects and functions of Rehmannia:

Rehmannia, one of the four major Huai herbs produced in Wenxian County, Henan Province, undergoes a process of nine steams and nine suns (soaked in yellow wine), known as Jiu Zhi Shu Di (Nine-Processed Rehmannia). It is effective for conditions such as kidney yin deficiency, with symptoms of internal heat rising, including dizziness, weakness in the lower back and knees, tinnitus, nocturnal emissions, and heat in the palms and soles. It also shows good results for chronic rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, periodontal abscesses, recurrent canker sores, early morning diarrhea, dry mouth syndrome, mild to moderate hypertension, chronic kidney disease, prostate issues, enuresis, menopausal syndrome, senile dementia, insomnia, fatigue syndrome, arthritis, chronic lower back and leg pain, premature aging, senile skin itching, immune system diseases, vitiligo, hair loss, chloasma, and eye diseases.

Rehmannia is an excellent tonic for nourishing yin. It is recommended to consume 8 to 15 grams daily at the time of the Rooster (around 5 PM) either dissolved in water or chewed.

It should be consumed 15 days after harvesting the grains.

For hair loss and symptoms related to liver and kidney yin deficiency, Rehmannia is commonly used. It is also frequently used for palpitations and pale complexion caused by blood deficiency. Therefore, Rehmannia is primarily used for those with yin deficiency and blood deficiency.
