Acupuncture therapy is not as frightening as we might think
It is merely a method of treatment
There is another acupuncture technique in TCM
that involves heating the needle in fire
Today, let us explore Fire Needle Therapy
Fire Needle Therapy
Fire Needle Therapy, also known as “Cui Ci” or “Burning Needle,” involves heating the needle until it is red hot and then quickly inserting it into the body to treat diseases. This therapy has been documented since the “Huangdi Neijing” (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon) and has a history of thousands of years.
Indications for Fire Needle Therapy
Fire Needle Therapy utilizes the power of fire to achieve its effects, combining the stimulation of the meridians with the warming and dispersing effects of moxibustion. It has functions such as warming the meridians and dispersing cold, promoting circulation, supporting Yang, expelling pathogens, draining pus, detoxifying, and resolving stasis. Clinically, it can be used alone or in combination with other acupuncture techniques. It is commonly used to treat abscesses, bi syndrome, gastroptosis, epigastric pain, diarrhea, dysentery, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, pediatric malnutrition, and rheumatic pain. It is also widely applied in dermatology and cosmetic fields, showing significant effects on acne, neurodermatitis, eczema, flat warts, moles, chloasma, freckles, herpes zoster, acne vulgaris, and psoriasis.
Contraindications for Fire Needle Therapy
Fire Needle Therapy is strongly stimulating and is contraindicated for pregnant women and the elderly or weak individuals. It is also contraindicated for those with hypertension, heart disease, malignant tumors, and those with heat syndrome or local redness and swelling.
