Gao Fang (medicinal paste), also known as Gao Ji (pasty preparation), is a relatively thick liquid obtained by decocting and concentrating traditional Chinese medicinal herbs. Due to the strong flavors of Chinese herbs, some individuals may find them difficult to tolerate. Therefore, sweeteners such as maltose or honey are often added to create a semi-liquid formula that has excellent nourishing effects and is convenient for storage and transport.
Yu Ping Feng Gao (Jade Windscreen Paste) is formulated with 9g of Huang Qi (Astragalus), 6g of Chao Bai Zhu (Fried Atractylodes), and 6g of Fang Feng (Siler).
The formula includes Huang Qi, which is effective for treating symptoms of lung and spleen Qi deficiency, helping to tonify the spleen and lung, benefit Qi, and stabilize the exterior; Chao Bai Zhu tonifies the middle and benefits Qi, strengthens the spleen Qi, and when combined with Huang Qi, enhances the effect of tonifying the middle and stabilizing the exterior; Fang Feng dispels wind and cold from the exterior, and when paired with Huang Qi, it can expel pathogens and dispel cold, stabilizing the exterior.
All the herbs work together to achieve the effect of tonifying the righteous Qi and expelling evil, benefiting Qi and stabilizing the exterior.
Clinically, it is applied for recurrent upper respiratory infections, allergic rhinitis, and bronchial asthma due to low immunity.
If needed, patients can visit the hospital outpatient department where a TCM doctor will prescribe a formula based on individual constitution for purchase.
