The Legend of Chinese Medicine: Clearing Heat and Detoxifying

Legend has it that long ago, there were twin sisters named Jin Hua and Yin Hua, who were both beautiful and graceful, resembling celestial beings. The sisters had a very close relationship, and by the age of eighteen, they were both of marriageable age. However, their bond was so strong that they preferred to remain single rather than be separated, vowing, “In life, we wish to share the same bed; in death, we wish to be buried together!” Their parents were helpless in the face of their determination. Unfortunately, fate was cruel, and the heavens did not allow this pair of loving sisters to remain together. The elder sister, Jin Hua, suddenly fell ill with an incurable disease—heat toxin syndrome. The illness struck fiercely, and within days, Jin Hua was bedridden with fever and rashes. The younger sister, Yin Hua, unwilling to live without her sister, soon fell ill as well.

Pitifully, the twin sisters perished, and before their death, they left a wish to transform into a medicinal herb that could treat heat toxin syndrome, so that no one else would suffer from this affliction. Later, people were astonished to find that the grave of the sisters was barren, but after three years, a small green vine sprouted, blooming in summer with flowers that were white at first and then yellow, creating a beautiful sight. People, amazed, believed that this flower was the embodiment of the sisters, and recalling their last words, they began to harvest the flowers for medicinal use to treat heat toxin syndrome, discovering its remarkable efficacy. Thus, the flower was named Jin Yin Hua in honor of the two sisters.
