Seasonal colds often lead to symptoms of cough and phlegm in the later stages. Phlegm can be categorized into cold and heat types; cold phlegm requires warming, while heat phlegm needs to be cleared. However, in clinical practice, we often encounter phlegm that is mixed with both cold and heat symptoms.
Phlegm of the mixed cold-heat type generally presents with nasal discharge that can be yellow at times and clear at others, as well as clear, thin phlegm, white phlegm, yellow phlegm, and sticky phlegm.
We recommend a simple tea recipe: “Jin Ju Xue Li Luo Bo Pi Tang” (Kumquat, Snow Pear, and Radish Peel Soup).
【Method】: Cut 8 kumquats in half and set aside, wash and peel 1 snow pear, and peel half a radish. Add the kumquats, pear peel, and radish peel to water and bring to a boil, then simmer on low heat for 40 minutes. Add a little rock sugar for flavor before serving.
