1. General Spleen Qi Deficiency:
If you often feel particularly weak, have loose stools, and are reluctant to speak or feel lethargic, with a swollen tongue, you are experiencing general Spleen Qi deficiency.
2. Spleen Qi Deficiency with Dampness:
If you not only feel particularly weak, have loose stools, and are reluctant to speak, but also feel that your face is oily, prone to acne, your hair is oily, your throat feels phlegmy, and you easily gain weight with a little overeating, this indicates Spleen Qi deficiency combined with excess dampness.
3. Spleen and Stomach Yang Deficiency:
Individuals with Spleen and Stomach Yang deficiency experience cold pain in the stomach, cannot tolerate cold foods, and may even have stomach pain from a cold breeze. The Spleen governs the limbs, and those with Spleen and Stomach Yang deficiency are sensitive to cold, with cold hands and feet. They generally have little appetite, and even if they eat, they may not digest well; some may feel bloated after eating, while others may have loose stools. Additionally, the fluids secreted by those with Spleen and Stomach Yang deficiency are clear and watery, such as excessive salivation that resembles water. Some may have clear nasal discharge, and others may have very clear urine, referred to as “clear and long urination.” The tongue of someone with Spleen and Stomach Yang deficiency is pale, swollen, with teeth marks, and the coating is white and greasy, indicating excess moisture.
Recently, I have seen many cases of Spleen and Stomach Yang deficiency in clinical practice. Even though the temperature is over thirty degrees Celsius, they dare not eat common fruits and vegetables like watermelon, cucumber, and tomatoes, and they avoid cold drinks altogether.
4. Spleen Qi Deficiency with Qi Stagnation:
If you feel bloated after eating a little more or moving less, or if you experience belching, and your abdomen feels hard with gas, while also feeling particularly weak, having loose stools, and being reluctant to speak, even sighing often, then you are experiencing Spleen Qi deficiency with Qi stagnation.
In summary, the four types of Spleen Qi deficiency are general Spleen Qi deficiency, Spleen Qi deficiency with dampness, Spleen and Stomach Yang deficiency, and Spleen Qi deficiency with Qi stagnation. Here, I have shared common Chinese patent medicines for these four conditions.
