(Six)Lung Heat Excess Syndrome

Lung Heat Excess Syndrome refers to the obstruction of the lungs by pathogenic heat, leading to the loss of the lung’s ability to clear and regulate, primarily manifested by cough, wheezing, and symptoms of internal heat. This syndrome is also known as Lung Heat Obstruction Syndrome.

【Syndrome Manifestations】Cough, wheezing, chest pain, breath that feels hot, sore and swollen throat, fever, thirst, constipation, dark and scanty urine, red tongue with yellow coating, rapid pulse.

(Seven)Phlegm-Heat Obstructing the Lungs Syndrome

Phlegm-Heat Obstructing the Lungs Syndrome refers to the combination of phlegm and heat obstructing the lungs, leading to the loss of the lung’s ability to clear and regulate, primarily manifested by cough, wheezing, yellow and thick phlegm, and symptoms of phlegm-heat.

【Syndrome Manifestations】Cough, wheezing with coarse breath, chest tightness, orphlegm rattling in the throat, expectoration of thick yellow phlegm, orcoughing up purulent and foul-smelling phlegm, chest pain, fever, thirst, dark and scanty urine, constipation, red tongue with yellow and greasy coating, slippery and rapid pulse.

(Eight)Cold-Phlegm Obstructing the Lungs Syndrome

Cold-Phlegm Obstructing the Lungs Syndrome refers to the obstruction of the lungs by cold phlegm, leading to the loss of the lung’s ability to disperse and descend, primarily manifested by cough, wheezing, copious white phlegm, and symptoms of cold. This syndrome is also known as Cold-Dampness Stagnating the Lungs Syndrome or Phlegm-Turbidity Obstructing the Lungs Syndrome.

【Syndrome Manifestations】Cough and wheezing, copious white phlegm, or wheezing in the throat, chest tightness, feeling cold with cold limbs, pale tongue with white greasy or slippery coating, and a soft or slippery pulse.

(Nine)Large Intestine Damp-Heat Syndrome

Large Intestine Damp-Heat Syndrome refers to the obstruction of the intestinal qi by damp-heat, leading to dysfunction in the large intestine’s ability to transport, primarily manifested by abdominal pain, diarrhea, and symptoms of damp-heat. This syndrome is also known as Intestinal Damp-Heat Syndrome.

【Syndrome Manifestations】Abdominal pain, diarrhea, burning sensation in the anus, or sudden and profuse diarrhea, yellow and foul-smelling; orbloody and purulent dysentery, urgency and heaviness in the abdomen, thirst, dark and scanty urine, or accompanied by chills and fever, or just fever without chills;red tonguewith yellow greasy coating, slippery and rapid pulse or soft and rapid pulse.

(Ten)Intestinal Heat Excess Syndrome

Intestinal Heat Excess Syndrome refers to the invasion of pathogenic heat into the interior, clashing with the waste in the intestines, primarily manifested by abdominal fullness and hardness, constipation, and symptoms of internal heat. This syndrome is also known as Yangming Fu Excess Syndrome in the differentiation of the six meridians.

【Syndrome Manifestations】Abdominal fullness and hardness with pain, tenderness upon palpation, constipation, or heat accumulation with foul-smelling discharge, high fever, orafternoon tidal fever, thirst with sweating, and in severe cases, delirium and confusion, or mania, dark yellow urine, red tongue, thick yellow and dry coating, or black and prickly coating, deep and rapid pulse, or deep and slow pulse.

(Eleven)Intestinal Dryness and Fluid Deficiency Syndrome

Intestinal Dryness and Fluid Deficiency Syndrome refers to the deficiency of body fluids, leading to the intestines losing their moistening ability, primarily manifested by dry and hard stools and symptoms of fluid deficiency. This syndrome is also known as Large Intestine Fluid Deficiency Syndrome.

【Syndrome Manifestations】Dry stools resembling sheep droppings, occurring every few days, abdominal distension and pain, or palpable masses in the left lower abdomen, dry mouth, or bad breath, or dizziness, red tongue with little moisture, yellow and dry coating, thin and rough pulse.

(Twelve)Intestinal Deficiency and Diarrhea Syndrome

Intestinal Deficiency and Diarrhea Syndrome refers to the deficiency of Yang qi in the large intestine, leading to an inability to hold and control, primarily manifested by uncontrollable diarrhea and symptoms of Yang deficiency. This syndrome is also known as Large Intestine Yang Deficiency Syndrome.

【Syndrome Manifestations】Frequent and uncontrollable diarrhea, or fecal incontinence, severe cases may lead to prolapse of the rectum, dull abdominal pain, preference for warmth and pressure, aversion to cold, fatigue, pale tongue with white slippery coating, and weak pulse.
