Director Xia, with 30 years of medical experience, has gone through many hardships and has deep personal insights. During the first 20 years of practice, I often worked night shifts and relied on biscuits and cakes to stave off hunger, leading to significant physical depletion. In the past 10 years of outpatient practice, there were times when I was so busy that I didn’t drink a sip of water all morning. The mental exhaustion, fatigue, and lack of exercise resulted in a weakened body. I was hospitalized for treatment due to cervical vertigo. However, 30 years of clinical practice has given me a deeper understanding and research into the progression and treatment of chronic diseases.

Treating diseases is important, but good health maintenance is even more crucial. Based on my own situation, I recommend a simple yet effective herbal tea: Huang Qi and Hawthorn Drink.

Ingredients:

20 grams of Huang Qi (Astragalus), 10 grams of Shan Zha (Hawthorn). Rinse with cold boiled water, then place in a thermos and pour in 400 milliliters of boiling water. It can be consumed after half an hour. After finishing, boiling water can be added again for a second brew.

Effects:

Huang Qi can tonify Qi and raise Yang, stabilize the exterior and stop sweating, strengthen the spleen and benefit the lungs. Shan Zha aids digestion and is particularly good at breaking down fats and invigorating blood circulation. Together, they can regulate immunity and lipid metabolism, replenishing mental and physical strength. It is also suitable for patients with Qi deficiency type heart disease and those with metabolic syndrome.

In recent years, I have been drinking a cup of Huang Qi and Hawthorn Drink daily, and my physical strength has significantly improved, especially reducing fatigue during periods of mental overexertion.

Suitable Population:

This drink is suitable for the general population, especially for those who sit for long periods, have high mental and physical exertion, are prone to colds, have abnormal lipid metabolism, or fatty liver.

Precautions:

1. It is advisable to consume during the day and avoid taking it before bed.

2. Different seasons require different combinations: add 10 grams of ginger in spring and summer, and 10 grams of goji berries in autumn and winter. Those who like honey can add 10 grams after brewing.

3. It is best to brew in a thermos rather than boiling, allowing the effective components to dissolve slowly. The key to brewing this herbal tea is to let it steep.

4. Brewed herbal tea should not be stored for long to prevent bacterial growth.
