Cang Zhu (Atractylodes)
Cang Zhu has a bitter taste, is warm in nature, and is non-toxic. It belongs to the Spleen (Pi) and Stomach (Wei) meridians.
It is indicated for the treatment of wind-cold-damp bi syndrome, dead muscle, spasms, jaundice, stops sweating, clears heat, and aids digestion. It benefits the blood in the waist and abdomen, nourishes body fluids, warms the stomach, aids in digestion, and increases appetite.
In terms of consumption, Cang Zhu can be used to make soup with winter melon, which can internally transform dampness and turbidity of the Spleen and Stomach, and externally disperse wind-cold-dampness. The specific method is as follows:
Cang Zhu and Winter Melon Damp-Dispelling Soup
Ingredients:Cang Zhu (Atractylodes) 10g, Xuan Shen (Scrophularia) 10g, Winter Melon 250g, Lean Pork 500g, Ginger slices, and salt to taste.Method:
1. Wash and cut Cang Zhu, Xuan Shen, Winter Melon, and Lean Pork into pieces;
2. Place all ingredients into a pot, add water, bring to a boil over high heat, then simmer for 1 hour on low heat. Add salt to taste before serving.
