Cupping therapy is a treatment method that uses cups as tools to create a vacuum by burning or compressing air inside the cup, causing it to adhere to the skin surface. This generates extensive stimulation, leading to local congestion or bruising, thereby achieving disease prevention and treatment, and body strengthening. The following are common precautions for cupping therapy, which we hope patients will read carefully.
01
Precautions Before Cupping
1. On the day of cupping, wear loose clothing to facilitate the exposure of the area to be treated;
2. If cupping is needed for neck discomfort, remove any neck accessories in advance;
3. Avoid alcohol, staying up late, or intense exercise the day before and on the day of treatment;
4. Keep warm before treatment, and avoid being overly hungry or full;
5. Use the restroom before treatment.
02
Precautions During Cupping
-
Avoid movement during cupping to prevent the cup from falling off;
-
If you experience unbearable pain during cupping, inform the medical staff immediately;
-
If you suddenly feel chest tightness, palpitations, dizziness, or cold limbs during cupping, you must inform the medical staff for appropriate treatment.
03
Precautions After Cupping
-
It is normal to experience slight pain and redness at the cupping site, which usually resolves on its own within a few days;
-
If you feel itching at the cupping site, avoid scratching. If you accidentally break the skin, it may lead to a local infection;
-
If small blisters appear at the cupping site, avoid breaking them. They usually absorb on their own after a few days. If the blisters are large, seek medical attention for disinfection to prevent infection;
-
Pay attention to keeping warm after cupping. The pores of the body will be in a dilated state for a short time, making it susceptible to cold, so take care to keep warm.
-
Do not take a shower immediately after cupping. The skin is still in a relatively fragile state right after cupping. You may take a warm shower three hours after cupping, and avoid swimming or taking a cold shower on the same day.
