Acupuncture
Needling Techniques and Moxibustion Techniques are collectively known as
a unique treatment method in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
In recent years,
as people’s health needs
continue to rise,
acupuncture has become increasingly popular.
However, when acupuncture is mentioned,
some individuals still feel apprehensive.
The needle pierces the flesh,
going in and out while rotating a few times,
and then multiple needles are inserted at once…
…
So,
is there a type of acupuncture
that is painless and can treat various “difficult diseases”?
Indeed, there is!!!
Here we have
an authoritative, easy-to-understand, and practical
This episode features
Director Liang Guisheng
of the Moxibustion Needle Studio at Dongguan Songshan Lake Central Hospital
to educate us about the “magical tool” Moxibustion Needle
PART01What is Moxibustion Needle?
U1S1, Moxibustion Needle treatment is indeed effective for migraines.
We have treated over a hundred migraine patients, achieving an efficacy rate of over 90%.
So, what exactly is Moxibustion Needle?
In simple terms, Moxibustion Needle is a type of acupuncture therapy where a specially made needle is heated and then inserted into acupuncture points on the body.
Moxibustion Needle combines two methods, “needling” and “moxibustion,” into one, achieving an effect greater than the sum of its parts.
Using the intense heat of the moxibustion, it takes advantage of the minimal pain from the needle to perform acupuncture, effectively unblocking meridians, promoting qi and blood circulation, and warming yang to dispel cold.
It is particularly effective for pain conditions (such as Cervical Spondylosis, Lumbar Disc Herniation, Shoulder Periarthritis, Knee Joint Disorders, etc.), and can also treat various conditions across different specialties, such as Stroke, Dizziness, Menstrual Irregularities, Infertility, Tinnitus and Hearing Loss, etc.
PART02Are there any adverse reactions?
The diameter of Liu’s Moxibustion Needle is only about 0.3 millimeters, as fine as a hair.
Liu’s Moxibustion Needle is inserted quickly, going in and out immediately, with minimal pain, similar to a mosquito bite, making it acceptable for both the elderly and children, hence it is often referred to as “painless acupuncture.”
Some individuals may not feel anything significant, while a small number may experience localized soreness, numbness, or swelling, which generally subsides within 1-2 hours.
Occasionally, small papules may form at the acupuncture site, and there may be mild itching, which usually resolves on its own.
PART03Not Everyone is Suitable
If the needle site is obvious and the healing time is long, it is likely that traditional fire needling was performed.
It is necessary to keep the skin dry and hygienic; if there is significant redness and swelling at the needle site, regular disinfection with iodine is required, and cupping at the needle site can enhance the effect.
Moxibustion Needle treatment also has its “threshold”; everyone needs to seek treatment at a professional medical institution.
If performed improperly by non-professionals, it can easily lead to nerve damage or even internal organ injury and other adverse consequences.
Finally,
Guan Xiaowei reminds us that while Moxibustion Needle is beneficial, certain groups should be cautious about receiving treatment:
