“What to do if I don’t have time to decoct Chinese medicine?” “It’s troublesome to transport large and small packages of Chinese herbal pieces home!”… Many patients hesitate to take Chinese medicine during long-term TCM treatment for various reasons. In fact, the forms of Chinese medicine are not limited to the familiar decoctions; there are also pastes, pills, powders, teas, granules, and other forms.
To meet the public’s demand for TCM services, the municipal TCM hospital has launched a “Custom Chinese Medicine Processing” service, tailoring formulations suitable for individual conditions.
What exactly is Custom Chinese Medicine Processing? How can one enjoy this special service? The municipal TCM hospital’s Weekly Formula column will explain.
Custom Chinese Medicine Processing
Custom Chinese Medicine Processing refers to the preparation of herbal formulations based on the TCM practitioner’s diagnosis and treatment after assessing the patient’s condition. These formulations are processed into forms such as pastes, pills, powders, etc., tailored to the individual’s condition. After preparation, it reduces the amount of medicine needed, makes it easier for patients to take and carry, and minimizes contamination, providing a better medication experience. Currently, the municipal TCM hospital offers pastes, pills, powders, teas, and granules.
Today
Let’s learn about powders
Powders are preparations made from raw medicinal materials that have been crushed and uniformly mixed into a powder form, and are one of the traditional forms. They have advantages such as easy dispersion, rapid onset of action, definite efficacy, and flexible dosage adjustment. They are widely used for both oral and external applications.
The municipal TCM hospital’s powder custom processing is completed according to the physician’s prescription and packaged in aluminum foil bags, generally starting from 1kg.
